This will place the Lions close to 10,000 clubs ahead of the next largest service group, according to Lions International President David A. Evans of^STexas City, Texas. Evans will officially welcome the Brook, Indiana, Lions club at their charter night celebration on April 16. Brook will be the 412th Lions club in Indiana, with some' 19,000 members in that state. DON PEASLEY PHOTO McHENRY MAN HEADS HOSPITAL WEEK OBSERVANCE The expanding role of Memorial Hospital for Mc Henry County beyond the traditional role of caring for the ill and injured is of major significance to McHenry county citizens, and this broadening responsibility will be highlighted during National Hospital Week ceremonies next month, Kenneth Schuh, president has announced. National Hospital Week observance will be May 11-17, and the theme for 1969 is "Your Hospital: Pathway to Progress in Community Health." The National Hospital Week observance will be conducted by the public relations committee of the board of directors. Harold Nye, McHenry, is chairman. Schuh explained Memorial hospital is a health care center to include community services for prevention of disease and injury. The hospital has a growing range of out-patient and home care programs. This enlarged role is in the forefront of planning as Memorial hospital carries out the first stage of a multi-million dollar expansion program for a county expected to grow rapidly in population during the next decade. The significance of improved. , medical science and the hospital's expanding role in total community health service is this: Better, more accessible health care for everyone, summarizes Schuh. Memorial Hospital for McHenry County will start National Hospital Week observance on the eve of May 11-17 observance with a flagpresentation ceremony on Saturday morning, May 10. The Woodstock Veterans of Wars will present Bert Hanson, administrator, with a new flag, and local officials will participate. The mother of the first baby born during National Hospital Week -- after midnight, Sundday, May 11 -- will receive a gift from the hospital to help observe National Hospital Week. Stateczny, 47, of 1615 N, Meadow lane, Lakeland Park, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 12, in Harvard hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Chicago and had been a local resident for eleven years.
