Present "Alice In Wonderland" Two Afternoons '•Alice in Wonderland", the age-old classic fairy tale, will be presented at the Woodstock Opera Hpuse on Saturday, April 19, at 2 and 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. Director for the show is Theresa Hobart Bill who reports that rehearsals are going wall and the show is almost ready to be opened. She stresses that this production uses no scenery or elaborate sets, rather the color and excitement is in the acting, the costuming and the props. Costuming is under the direction of Mrs. Marvin Krause who has been the costume designer at the Opera House for most of the big productions over the last eight years. Tickets will be available at the door. A monthly average of 121,317 volunteers worked at Veterans Administration hospitals during 1968. More are needed. OMING E VENTS M\RY LYNXE MILLER ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT -- Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Miller of Hastings, Neb. announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary I.ynne, to Jerald W. Koepke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Koepke of McHenry. Miss Miller is a graduate of the University of Kansas, where she majored in language arts. She is a msmber of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and Pi Lambda Theta. At present she is teaching English in the Oak Park River Forest high school in Oak Park. Mr. Koepke is a 1964 graduate of McHenry Community high school. He received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1968. Presently, he is attending the University or Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. The wedding will take place June 28 in. Hastings, Neb. This fanciful children's fairy tale can be seen Saturday, April 19, at 2 and 4 and Sunday, April 20, at 2 at the Woodstock Opera House. The play is being presented by the Woodstock Fine^^rts. props Association and is under the direction of Ther- A story, esa Hobart Bill. Tickets can be obtained at the door. The cast includes adults and high school and grade school children who have been rehearsing for many weeks in order to bring all the magic and imagination of the story before the audience. Russell A. .Jr., on April 4 at McHenry hospital. The young man. who will answer to the name of Rusty, has a fouryear old sister, Donna, to help with his care. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Posthuma of McHenry and the paternal ones are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hopp of Johnsburg. He has two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Stella Geist of McHenry and Mrs. Charlotte Kuhn of Johnsburg. The new mother is the former Georgiann Posthuma. On April II a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mc- Nutt. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Mi Her are parents of a daughter on April 12. A son was born April 10 to Mr. and Mrs. William Toalson. Because of spring vacation, the PTA meeting was changed this month to Thursday, April 17, at 8 p.m. Conclude Opera House Program Series April 17 JUDITH STILLING BETROTHAL TOLD -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Stilling of Carpentersville announce the engagement of their daughter, Judith, to Richard T. Kuhlmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kuhlmann of Ardsley, New York. Miss Stilling is presently attending Clarke college in Dubuque, Iowa. Mr. Kuhlmann will receive his B.A. degree from Loras college, Dubuque, in June. A summer wedding is planned. Miss Stilling is the granddaughter of Mrs. Hugh Murphy and Mrs. George A. Stilling of McHenry. Anyone wfifcf has browsed through an art museum and marvelled at the beauty of the masterpieces displayed there, may have also marvelled at the fact that paintings created centuries ago still convey, an amazing brightness and detail. It is no stroke of luck that these paintings are so well preserved. The art of conservation of art requires talent and long training. One of the most distinguished figures in the field is Alfred J. Jakstas, conservator of the Art Institute of Chicago, On Thursday, April 17, at 10 a.m., at the Woodstock Opera House, Mr. Jakstas will discuss his experiences in the restoration and preservation of great works of art. This will be the final program of the season's Creative Living Series sponsored by the Women's guild of the Woodstock f-Tne Arts association. Coffee will be served prior to the program at 9:30 a.m. in the Green room of the Opera House. Tickets will be on sale at the box office. Following the business meeting, guests will be invited to view the exhibits. A slight change in format has been announced. Grades one through five will display their projects in their classrooms. The school lab and the cafeteria will contain the projects of the students in the iq?per grades. The Harrison school band, , under the direction of Richard Mikus, received a "good" rating at the Northern Illinois grade school district contest. This contest was held at Avon center Saturday, March 22. The chorus received an "excellent" rating, which is one level higher. Those groups receiving "superior' ' ratings a£ the ensemble contest held March 28, were Mike Bazan and Ed Weisenburger, clarinet duet; Andy Oleszczuk and Tom Van Kanegan, mixed duet. Students receving "sjjper-' ior" ratings at the solo contest March 29 were Dick Arndt, snare drum; Bill Dicker, tuba; Tari Ruggero, flute; Vicki Matesi, flute; Kendall Street, french horn; and Bill Ruggero, trombone. Following a formal section which will run the gamut from folk to concert a-cappella arrangements and from show tunes to operatic selections, the club will don costumes for the performance of bits from three favorite musicals, one by Rodgers and Hammerstein and the others by Sigmund Romberg. The romantic music of "The Desert Song" will be followed by homey tunes from "Oklahoma". The program will conclude with a medley from "The with the stirring "Drinking Song" and the nostalgic and tender "Golden Days" and "Serenade". A newcomer to the club, Miss Julianne Peterson, a teacher at West campus, will be featand Sunday evenings, April 26 and 27, at 8:15 p.m. Pictured above are Bill Reinwall, Betty Smith and Norbert Mauch, who will be heard in the well known" One Alone" from Sigmund Romberg's operetta.
