APRIL 18, 1969 SPRING GROVE NEWS EVA FREl'XD PHONE 675-2133 NEW OFFICERS ELECT ED FOR MOTHERS SOCIETY Election of officers was held at the Christian Mothers society meeting in St. Peter's parish hall on Thursday evening, April 17. A new presidgftt and secretary were on the slate of officers to be elected. A bible vigil preceded the meeting at 7:45 p.m. Following the meeting there was a social hour and refreshments'. LCWC Recently a Reciprocity Day entertaining the Lotus Country Woman's Club was held at the home of Mrs. Gordon Sergant with Mrs. Frank Heineman and Mrs. John Horak as co-hostesses. A luncheon at 12:30 was served to eighteen members and many guests from the clubs of McHenry County Federation. Meeting was opened with a salute to the flag led by Mrs. Horak. President Mrs. Leo Karls read the poem "Smile". Roll call by Secretary Mrs. Ed. Buesseler and reports were read. The treasurer read the donations and stated that a donation had been made to the Spring Grove Fire Protection District which is in Burton- Richmond Townships. Corresponding Secretary Harriet Olson read letters of invitations from other clubs. The president announced a card party and luncheon for May 12, details to be given later. Miss Sah Hans sen and Mrs. Mae Buchert were appointed to select a place for the annual spring luncheon. Members of the nominating committee for officers for the coming year are Mrs. William Shotliff, Mrs. Russell Rudolph and Mrs. Harriet Olson. The program for the afternoon was given by the eleventh district president Mrs. Donald Gerlich of Wonder Lake. Her topic was Club Federations, this was" most interesting. There are club organizations all over the world numbering about fourteen thousand, she stated. The President announced the passing of one of our club members, Mrs. Bessie Ducey of Richmond, and also a sisterin- law of Mrs. Frank Heineman. Sympathy was extended these families by the club. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Pauline Horak. VACATIONERS Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hill are now home from their vacation in Florida. While there they called on Mj^s. Martha Schueneman at New Smyra Beach. She has a home there. Our mailman Charlie Schereck and his wife, Evelyn, have just returned from a month's vacation in St. Petersburg, Fla. CLUBS The 500 club meeting held in March was at the home of Mrs. Mary Nimsgern. Those winning prizes were Emma May, Mame Tinney, Frances Busch, Mary Nimsgern and Clara Deinlein. The April 10 meeting had Mrs. Clara Deinlein as hostess and winners of prizes for games of 500 were Frances Shotliff, Tillie May, Minnie Pierce, Emma Mav and Clara Deinlein. The birthday club was entertained at the home of Til lie May on April 8. Prizes were awarded Susie Rudolph, Tillie May, Minnie Pierce and Nora Miller. Lunch was served. Prize winners for the March birthday club meeting at the home of Mame Tinney were Mrs. Alice Stevens, Mrs. Emma May, Mrs. Susie Rudoph and Mame Tinniey. VISITORS Recent visitors in the Harvey Petska and John Pulaski homes were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Munich and Mr. and Mrs. Percy LaRose of New Auburn, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Munich are the parents of Mrs. Petska and Mrs. Pulaski. MRS. MYERS DIES The many friends of Mrs. Harry (Sig) Myers were saddened to hear of her death several weeks ago. She passed away in Vero Beach, Fla., where they had built a home and retired there. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to her husband, Harry, and two daughters, Marilyn and Lois. HOSPITALIZED - Sorry to hear that Bill Shotliff is a patient at Mc Henry hospital. Mrs. Eldred (Catherine) Johnson underwent surgery in Memorial hospital, Woodstock, last weeK. . NEWS OF SERVICEMEN " Sp/4 Victor C. Freund will be stationed in Korea, he left Wednesday, April 9. William May is home on leave and will be leaving for Vietnam this week. Roland Waspi is in training with the U.S. Marines. Randy Nimsgern, who is in the U.S. Air Force, was home on leave Easter week. IT'S A BOY Congratulations to John and Margaret Sanborn on their-new grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanborn of Bensenville, 111., have a six pound baby boy. The baby will be named John making him John Sanborn, the twelfth. MEETING SCHEDULED APRIL 21 A meeting to make plans for the coming summer social at St. Peter's will be held in the parish hall on Monday night, April 21. The committee will be all parishioners whose last name begins with letters A to J. All other volunteers will also be most welcome. LEGION AUXILIARY MEETING The Amorican Legion Auxiliary meeting for April will be held Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the post home on East Wonder Lake road. NOTES OF SYMPATHY Our condolences to the family of Mrs. John (Mary A.) Connors, Indian Ridge, who passed away April 5 in Woodstock hospital. Our condolences also to the family of Baby Dennis James Summerkamp, 9 weeks old, son of Donald and Leanna (Sellek) Summerkamp, Elgin, former Wonder Center residents. The infant was found dead in his crib April 12. He was born Feb. 5, 1969 at Woodstock hospital. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister. Dawn Louise, 3 years old, and a brother, Donald Richard, 18 months; maternal grandparr ents, the Melville Selleks, Indian Ridge and the paternal grandmother,. Mrs. Frances Summerkamp, also of Wonder Lake. Our condolences also to the family of Alexander Clark, White Oaks Bay, who passed away April 11 in McHenry hospital. WELCOME TWO GREAT GRANDDAUGHTERS Mr. and Mrs. Michael Druml, Deep Spring Woods, welcomed two great granddaughters recently via their grandsons. Mr. and Mrs.^Edward Druml, Jr., Chicago, welcomed a daughter, Deborah Anne, March 14, in St. Francis hospital, Evanston. Deborah Anne weighed 9 lbs. 3Vi ozs., and has a brother Edward III who celebrated his first birthday March 18. The paternal grandparents are the senior Edward Drumls, McHenry. Also Sgt. ana Mrs. David Druml, Hawaii, welcomed a girl Denise Catherine, March 30, in Castle Memorial hospital, Hawaii. She weighed? lbs. 1 oz., and was welcomed home by a brother, David, 5 years and a sister, Doneen, 2'< years old. Besides the paternal grandparents, the Senior Ed Drumls, the maternal grandparents are the Donald M. Smiths, Johns^ burg and the mother is the form3r Donna Smith. The Drumls will soon return to the States and then Dave will go on a tour of duty iri Vietnam and his family will reside in the McHenry area while he is overseas. SERVICE NEWS Marine Corporal James A. Gehri, son of Mrs. Roy O. Lee of 2S02 N. Manitou trail, McHenry, is serving with Marine Fighter Attack squadron 323 in Vietnam. His squadron, a unit of Marine Aircraft Group 13, First Marine Aircraft Wing, provides close air support for the U.S. and Allied forces. The squadron employs the F-4B "Phantom" jet which is capable of superspnic speed.
