The annual meeting of the McHenry County Historical society will be held on Thursday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau building, Mc- Connell road, Woodstock. The program will be presented by Edward F. Gathman of Elgin, who is a past-president of the Model T Ford club International, a world-wide organization of antique car-owners. Mr. Gathman will show slides and give a talk about antique cars, and he will also tell about the part that Elgin played in the manufacture of automobiles. Snapshots of entries in the Algonquin Hill races will also be shown and items from the society's growing collection of scrap books, old postcard scenes and photographs will be on display. The nominating committee consisting of Mrs. Ed Ocenasek, Cary, Chairman, with Peter Nelson, Woodstock, and Mrs. Claude Pagles of Harvard, assisting, will present a slate of officers and directors to be elected for the coming year. The offices of president, vicepresident ahd directors will be voted on br the general membership. Nominations can also be made from the floor at this time, if the consent of the nominee has been obtained before the election. « All dues are payable as of May 1 of each year, and new memberships can be obtained and old memberships renewed at this meeting I* for the May, 1969, to May, 1970 year. Membership is open to everyone interested in preserving McHenry county's history, and all members, prospective members and guests are urged to attend the annual meeting. Information about membership can be obtained by contacting Mrs. Oral Herendeen, secretary, at Box 30, Woodstock. An intake application is filled out by the person seeking caire. The application is then reviewed and it is determined how this person's problem should be handled. If the problem can be solved by family casework, the person is referred to the family caseworker. However, if it is found that the person requires psychiatric help, he is referred to the mental health staff. Here the person is interviewed anda diagnostic evaluation is completed. Pearce Konold, ACSW, psychiatric social worker, planning for the observance locally of Mental Health Week. Also working in the clinic is Gerald Pettera, mental health educator, who recently completed a study of mental health and mental retardation for the McHenry County Mental Health board. Pettera works with the Education committee of the board of directors who provides the communities with educational programs and materials dealing with mental health and family service. To assist the professional staff is Mrs. Earl B. Roberts, administrative assistant, who works as office manager and bookkeeper and serves as secretary of the board of directors. The secretaries of the clinic are Sharon McManaway, Betty Johnson, Mary Freundand Dorothy Tomm. Linda Blake of McHenry high school is the student secretary. Administration of the clinic's operations and programs on a daily basis is carried out by George Mally, M.S., psychologist, the administrative director. Mr. Mally works in close cooperation with the Board of Directors and the Medical IErector to maintain communications both within the Clinic and with the communities. In 1968, the clinic served 845 different persons in 4,049 patient interviews, and 129 group sessions. There were 814 calls received for services. In the first quarter of 1969, the clinic already has served 493 different patients in 1,296 patient interviews and forty-six group sessions, with 274 calls received for services.
