St. Clara's Court Holds Installation The national director of the National Catholic Order of Foresters, Mrs. Marie Able was installing officer for St. Clara Court No. 659, on April 24 at St. Mary's school hall. Officers installed were president, Mrs. Richard Freund; vice-president, Miss Joyce Weber; recording secretary, Mrs. Leonard Freund, financial secretary, Mrs. Robert Vogt; treasurer Mrs. Robert Miller; trustees Mrs. Francis Schmitt, Mrs. John Wirfs; Mrs. Daniel Lennon; conductors, . Mrs. Harold Justen, Mrs. Wm. Schabow; sentinels,. Mrs. Leo Blake and Mrs. James Blake. Mrs. Carl Freund was organist for the installation. Special conductors for installation were two Junior members, Miss Patti Buss and Miss Mary Rodenkirch. Retiring Junior directors Mrs. George Rodenkirch and Mrs. Ed. Buss were presented with small gifts. Also presented with a gift was Retiring Sentinel Mrs. John Freund. Fifly-one members and six guests enjoyed a delicious dinner served at the Mc Henry Country club preceding the installatior. Honored guest, Mrs. Anton Blake, was presented her fifty-year pin and was surprised by the attendance of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Piagentini, and her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Robert Blake, Mrs. Donald Blake and Mrs. Ray Blake. The Pioneer center is a training center for the adult exceptional individuals residing in McHenry county. Presently, the majority of those enrolled are considered mentally retarded, but other types of handicapping conditions are also considered for placements. Tickets for the dinner and play entitled, "The Star Spangled Girl", may be obtained from the Pioneer center office. for dinner-theatre party benefitting the McHenry County Association for the Retarded. One of these was in "The Medium" by GianCarlo Menotti, a contemporary opera. Many will recall how she chilled audiences at the Woodstock Opera House in her role as the psychic Madame Flora last spring. Her host of fans in this area have expressed a desire to hear Mrs. Amici again in this role, possibly in her home city of McHenry. ANGELA "DEE" AMICI Angela "Dee" Amici, well known professional singer, has recently returned home from New York City, where she auditioned for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center. Nominations for Slate 1 are Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson, co-presidents; Mr. and Miss Stilling Is Married To Algonquin Man Miss Mary%nn Stilling was a lovely bride on Saturday, April 26, when she walked up the aisle of St. Patrick's Catholic church to meet her bridegroom, Mr. Leonard F. Martinez, Jr. Rev. Fr. Michael Tierney^ associate pastor officiated at the 2:30 o'clock nuptial Mass. Acolytes were Peter and James Stilling, brothers of the bride. Miss Stilling is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Stilling of 711 S. Rt. 31, McHenry, and Mr. Martinez is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martinez, Sr., of 801 Craig road, Algonquin. Bouquets of white daisies and gladioli decorated the altar. Given in marriage by her father, Miss Stilling wore a white linen, empire style gown with A-line skirt, bell sleeves, rounded neckline and panel train. Lace trim was featured on the dress and train. Her matching mantilla veil was trimmed with the same lace. She carried white daisies and pink baby's breath surrounded by lace identical to that on the gown. Her " something old" was a necklace given to Miss Stilling by the groom four years Attending her were Peggy Stilling, her sister, as maid of honor and Donna Keup.and Diane Stilling, her sister, as bridesmaids. Flower girls were Michele, Sandy and Cindy Stilling, young sisters. All were attired in gowns* of the same material and style as the bride, in mauve pink. They were trimmed with green and pink flowered applique ^on the sleeves and hemline. Th^ir headpieces were pink bows with trim the same as the dresses, < and they wore blusher veils. All carried pink daisies. The bride designed and fashioned her wedding gown, and the dresses and headpieces of her attendants and of her mother. Mickey Martinez served his brother as best man and groomsmen were Richard Przybyl and Richard Martinez, another brother. Junior groomsmen were Kenny Gaylord and Tom Carey, cousins of the bride. David Kemble and Harold Stilling, Jr., brother of the bride, were ushers. Mrs. Stilling chose an avocado, sleeveless dress with matching coat, trimmed with blue and green applique, accessories in the same colors and blue daisies making up her corsage. Mrs. "Martinez Mrs. Daniel Lennon, co-vicepresidents; Mrs. Priscilia Balchunas, secretary; and Earl Paddock, treasurer. Slate 2 lists Mr. and Mrs. Lester Smith as co-presidents; Tom Tompson; vice-president; Mrs. Joan Weber, secretary, and Kenneth Diedrich, treasurer. The students' annual Art Fair also will be held. All exhibits will be on display in the school gym for parents to view. In charge of the event this year are Mrs. J.T. Kiggins and Miss Clara Batula, fourth grade teachers at St. Mary's. Judges will be Sister Vera Marie, Sister Nancy and Mrs. Judy Irwin, all teachers at St. Mary's. Their judging will be based on creativity, originality and attractiveness, as well as consideration of age, grade level, time and preparation. Exhibits will consist of art drawings, paintings, the creative use of clay, paper mache, wool and other various materials. Winners will be announced and ribbons awarded by Sister La- Clare, principal. Included on the agenda is a musical presentation by the girls' choir and student orchestra, directed by Sister Andreella, with music accompaniment by Mrs. Charles Nelson. Refreshments will be provided by the officers and teacher aides. Chairmen in charge are Mrs. Henry Nell and Mrs. Earl Paddock. The doors will be open at 7 p.m. and the meeting begins a half hour later. A reception for 160 persons included dinner and dancing at the Legion home, after which the couple left on a wedding trip into Wisconsin. They will make their home in Elgin. Both young people are 1966 Marian Central high school graduates. The bride attended Alverno college for two years and has been employed in the office of McHenry hospital. Her fiance attended Elgin Community college and is now a manager trainee in Elgin. Honored guests attending the wedding were the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Clara Stilling, and the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Marie Norton, of Chicago.
