CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SUBJECT "Mortals and Immortals" is the subject of this week's Bible Lesson-Sermon to be heard Sunday in McHenry Christian Science churches. "In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death." This verse from Proverbs 12 is the Golden Text. A related passage in the lesson, from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, states: "Mortals are not like immortals, created in God's own image; but infinite Spirit being all, mortal consciousness will at last yield to the scientific fact and disappear, and the real sense of being, perfect and forever intact, will appear." All are welcome at Christian Science society, Lincoln road and Eastwood lane. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. BEEF MONTH Gov. Richard B. Ogilvie has signed a proclamation designating May as Beef Month in Illinois. Christianity is for today Truth doesn't change with time. The truths that Christ Jesus taught more than nineteen centuries ago can have the same effect today they had then. They can change the course of the world. It's up to us. We have to understand what he taught, to put these intensely practical teachings into use in our daily lives. If each of us does this, it will have a marked effect upon the world. Hear Howard H. Irwin, O.S., a member of ' The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, speak on "Chrislianityls For Today." You and your friends arer-- most cordially invited to this free public lecture. Father John Strazalka, Pastor The Model "Now I'm big--with a, hat ljke Mommy's!" Amy was really full of herself when we went shopping yesterday* «. I was amused, too, as I watched her imitate her mother on the way to church the next day. She really had that walk down to a "T." I'm glad her mother is her model. She couldn't have a better one. Mary's love of God is reflected in everything she does. Her happiness in. ^erving God and His church is contagious. I should know! When we were married, I was a sometime churchgoer. Now, I teach Sunday School, sing in the choir and am chairman of ,the building committee. I find it deeply satisfying to know that my church needs me. Every church needs the dedicated effort of its members.
