Anyone wishing to donate goods to be picked up please call 653-4923. 653-5371 GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hoelterhoff, Highland Shores, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary May 18 by renewing their marriage vows at Nativity Lutheran church, Pastor Allin officiating. The couple was also honored at an open house in the home of their granddaughter, Mrs. Larry (Charm) Hay, Highland Shores. Hie actual wedding date is May 17, 1919 in Chicago. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED HOPKINS-PA ULIN The engagement of Miss Mary Sue Hopkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Hopkins, Woodstock to Lawrence Paulin, son of the Howard Paulins, Sunrise Ridge, has been announced by her parents. A June 14 wedding is being planned. HOSPITALIZED Ruth Moore, Janet Miller, ^ Marion Laier, Esther Born, Charles Hentges and Joyce Macaluso were admitted this past week to Woodstock hospital. Mrs. Clara Winkler, John Spanitz and Thomas Basile were admitted to McHenry hospital this week. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE American Legion Post 1169 will sponsor its annual Memorial Day parade, Friday, May 30. This parade, the twentyfirst in a series that began in 1948, has become a yearly tradition at the Lake. Marching units participating in the parade will gather at the Wonder Lake firehouse on East Wonder Lake road, at 9:30 a.m. to be assigned places in the formation. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Route of march will be: south from the firehouse on Wonder Lake road, to Hancock drive and then west on Hancock to the Memorial triangle at Wonder Center. The parade will be climaxed with ceremonies at the memorial. Local civic, social, business and youth organizations are planning to march in the parade. Parade Marshall Robert Kiddell has extended a special invitation to all Vietnam veterans to take part in this Memorial Day observance. NOTE OF SYMPATHY Our condolences to the family of Miss Pamela Ann Miller, 15 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thane Miller, Highland Shores, who was fatally injured in an auto accident Mother's Day night near Woodstock. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The following Wonder Lakers were inducted into the National Honor Society at West campus, McHenry high school, recently, Sylvia Helm, Don Sturm and Joyce Young. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday on May 25 to our youngest, Beth Ann, who will blow out three candles. And on May 29, our brotherin- law, Bill Forbes, Harvey, will celebrate his birthday. HARRISON SCHOOL NEWS Don't forget -- kindergarten registration, Monday, May 26, from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Also, a certified copy of a birth certificate and completed medical forms are to be turned in at this time. The annual eighth grade trip to Springfield is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, May 27 and 28. Eighth grade graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, at 8 p.m. in the school gymnasium. RETURN FROM FLORIDA My folks, the Junior Eld Cannons, Shore Hills, have just returned from a three week vacation in Florida. GET-WELL WISHES Our prayers and best wishes to Miss Robin Bluemel, 6years old, daughter of the Don Bluemels, Wooded Shores, who is confined to bed rest. We hope it won't be too long, Robin, before you are up and outside with your playmates. Betty Paulin, president, opened the meeting at 8 p.m. Reports were given by her committees. Would like to see more of our members there. Crabill, former sales supervisor at the Chicago branch of Airwork, a division of the PAC group, has been named eastern region sales promotion supervisor for general aviation, it was announced by G. Roy Backman, vice-president andgeneral manager of the Aviation Product division of the PAC group. Crabill will report directly to Lawrence F. Meeting was closed and refreshments were served. LEGION BASEBALL TAG DAY Saturday morning, May 24, the American Legion baseball team will be out for a tag day in Wonder Lake. He is a past president of the Michigan Aviation Trades association Married and the father of three children, Diana, 15, Michael, 13, and David, 7, he is active in his community's Junior Chamber of Commerce, local flying club and church. He is a native of Santa Rosa, Mo. PAC Group is a subsidiary of Pur ex Corporation Limited of Lakewood, Calif. Crabill will continue to reside in McHenry for the present. TWO MARINE CORPS PROGRAMS ARE ANNOUNCED Sgt. R.H. Blumel, the Marine corps recruiter for Lake and McHenry counties, announced that his office is presently accepting applications for enlistments of two, three and four years active duty. Some programs currently open are the '120 Day Delay Program' enables a young man to enlist and then take up to 120 days delay before reporting for active duty. This program is available with enlistments of two, three and four years. The 'Guaranteed Aviation Enlistment Program' guarantees assignment to Marine corps aviation school. Some of the fields available through this program are: Jet Engine Mechanic, Reciprocating Engine Mechanic, Aviation Ordnance, Aircraft Electronics Technician, and Air Traffic Control. This program is available only on a fouryear enlistment to those men who can meet the specified mental, moral and physical requirements. Sgt. Blumel is available at the Woodstock post office on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call for an appointment if at all possible.
