MAY 29, 1969 McHenry Gir Is Prom Queen McHenry had the distinction of making history last Saturday evening whe^a local girl was crowned first McHenry County college prom queen. She is Betty Himpelmann, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Himpelmann of 3611 N. Middle. The gala event was held in the Nature building at Veterans Acres, Crystal Lake. The queen was chosen by a faculty panel from nine candidates narrowed to five finalists. Other finalists included Maxine Moy of McHenry, Joan Leahy of Crystal Lake, Ann Peterson of Waukegan and Pat Jackson of Woodstock. Miss Himpelmann is a 1968 graduate of McHenry high school and is majoring in education. In addition to pursuing her course of study, Betty is student assistant in the college library, a member of the Drama club and also the AEG (Associated Entertainment Guild). Players Will Give Melodrama The Town Square Players of Woodstock will present "Dirty Work At The Crossroads", by Bill Johnson, at the Woodstock Opera House on June 13, 14 and 15. Donald Barden of Woodstock is again directing the group for the musical melodrama. The public saw many members of the cast in "Web of Murder" in February and in " You Can't Take It With You", last November. Sisters Return From Travels Around World The Frank Gregorys are looking ahead to a pleasant summer, happy that their two daughters and son-in-law have returned to this country. Capt. and Mrs. Robert Titus (the former Susan Gregory) have just returned from a three-week vacation in South America. They visited Lima, Peru, Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina. The biggest portion of their stay was in Santiago at the home of Senor and Senora Silvio Caiozzi, sister and brother-inlaw of Mr. Titus. They are now back at Ft. Stewart, Ga„ where he is an Army dentist. . The Gregorys'other daugh- V *ter, Judy, and a friend, Helen Berg, have just returned from a vacation in Puerto Rico. Although they stayed at San Juan, the young ladies drove through all of Puerto Rico. Judy had returned to McHenry the first of the year after living in Spain for two years. While there, her travels were very extensive. She attended all of the traditional holiday fiestas throughout Spain and learned the culture and language of the people. Miss Gregory also travelled to all of the Scandinavian countries, England, Scotland and Central Europe, in addition to time spent in the Mediterranean area. During her four years at the university, Linda was an active member of Delta Phi Sigma sorority, the Key (year book) S.I.S.E.A., House Council and senior year president of the Panhellenic council. Next fall, Miss Low will be employed teaching third grade at Johnsburg public school. Linda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Low of 4904 Barnard Mill road, Ringwood, was awarded the BA degree at commencement exercises held in McCormick gymnasium, with Dr. Ferenc Nagy, former premier of Hungary, delivering the address. Richmond OES Observes 75th Anniversary Richmond Chapter, No. 267, O.E.S., is celebrating its seventy- fifth anniversary with a dinner at Hunters' Golf clubhouse on June 7 at 6:30 in Richmond. Area Woman Named To DCCW Rockford Office At the third quarterly board meeting of the Rockford D.C.C.W., held May 15 at the Retreat House in Rockford, the new officers for the council were elected to serve a twoyear term. They will assume office immediately following the diocesan convention to be held at Boylan Central Catholic high school in Rockford on Sept. 28. WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT "The state office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction has selected 40 persons to participate in a summer Title I workshop for experienced teachers working with the disadvantaged. Among them is Marjorie Stastny, 2608 W. Kashmiri avenue. According to Dr. Eugene B.
