MICHAEL D. URNEZ Michael D. Urnez died Sat-, urday, June 14, in the McHenry, hospital. Urnez, aged88, resided at 1112 Lake Vista Terrace, Spring Grove, for twenty - two years. H& moved there from Chicago, where he lived for many years. Born Sept. 10, 1881 in Russia, Urnez worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 1948. Surviving I Urnez is a son, William of Crete, 111., two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Sophia. Funeral services were held in the K.K. Hams her funeral home at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Urnez was buried in Fotf Lake Cva^vtsry* EDWARD MOLITOR Edward Molitor died in Memorial hospital, Woodstock, on Monday, June 16, at the age of 72. Born July 1, 1896 in Wisconsin, Molitor resided at 114 N. Lily Lake road. Molitor belonged to three fraternal organizations, the VFW local 4600, Loyal Order of Moose, and the World War I Barracks. His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death. Surviving in his family are his brothers, John, * in Chicago, Peter, in Milwaukee, and Barney in Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Maine Parker, of Milwaukee. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Patrick's church. The burial will be private. The body rested at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home until last rites. MVRION H. LONGFIELD Marion H. Longfield, 66, of 104 N. Ridge road, McHenry, was dead upon arrival at McHenry hospital Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. He had been ill for about two months. Mr. Longfield was born in Chicago Dec. 10, 1902 and came to this area from Cicero twenty- one years ago. He was a metallurgist for Pheoll Mfg. Co., Chicago. Survivors are his wife, Marion E., nee McMahon, to whom he has been married forty - four years June 6; one son, Frank, of Phoenix# Ariz., seven grandchildren; on&: gteat - grandchild; and a sfsler, Mrs. Mary Fedkirchner of Chicago. A noon Mass will be offered Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic church, with burial inthe church cemetery, Friends may call at the Peter M. Justen and Son Funeral home after 3 o'clock Wednesday. LEONARp OCHOCKI Leonard Ochocld, 45, died Saturday, June 14, in the Burlington hospital, Burlington, Wise. He had been a resident of Spring Grove for three years where he moved to from Powers Lake. The deceased was born in Chicago Oct. 16, 1923. He served with the U.S. Air corps. Several relatives survive, including two daughters, Debra Ann and Carol Lynn. Two uncles, Stanley and Joseph Miller, live in this area and his sister, Norma (Lee) Blankenship, resides in Chicago. A funeral Mass for Ochocki was held in St. Peter's, Ingleside. He was buried in St. Peter's cemetery. HAROLD S. HOFFMAN Harold S. Hoffman, 56, of 5009 E. Lake Shores drive, Wonder Lake, was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, about noon Monday, June 16. Mr. Hoffman was born in Roseland Aug,. 29, 1912. He had resided here for about twenty -' five years, coming to the area from Chicago, where he was an industrial salesman for Jensen Mfg. Co. Survivors are his wife, Jeanette, nee Bielicki; two sons, Richard O. of Blacksburg, Va., agd Roland R. of Hoffman Estates; two daughters, Mrs. Arlene J. (Charles) Suleiman of Wonder Lake and Mrs. Sharon (Mike) Noonan of DesPlaines; three grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Vernon and James of Gary, Ind.; and a sister, June, of Chicago. Graveside services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday at Christ the King cemetery, iit Wonder Lake. The deceased was a member of McHenry Lodge, No. 158, AF & AM, members of which are conducting Masonic service at <8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Peter M. Justen funeral home, where the body rests at this time. ETHEL VAN KANEGAN \ A prominent Wonder Lake resident, Mrs. John (Ethel) Van K&negan, 65, died suddenly early Monday morning, June 16, in her home at 7104 Mohawk drive." Mrs. Van Kanegan and her husband lived in the McHenry area since 1941. Last January they celebrated their fortythird wedding anniversary. During the early years of their marriage, they toured the vaudeville circuit performing in theatres and night clubs' throughout the United States and Canada. After a few years Mrs. Van- Kanegan retired to raise a family in Broadview, 111., and her husband, John) became associated with a Chicago radio station retiring in 1960. From 1954 until 1960 "Hie Vans" operated a Lounge in Wonder Lake. During those years their talent attractedpeople from throughout the country to Wonder Lake. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Van Kanegan, nee Kramer, is survived by two sons and a daughter , Jack of Wonder Lake, Mrs. Gene (Janet) Wagner of Sandwich, 111., and .James of New Orleans; fourteen grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Kramer. The body will rest at the > Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home until 10 o'clock on Thursday morning, when a Mass will be offered at Christ the King Catholic church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. WED. In the absence of the secretary, Irene Stoller read a thank you note which had been received from the Girl Scouts of Troop 478. Gerry Breede reported that she had turned in her press book for judging on the district level, but has not heard reports on the judging as yet. ~"Gerry Breede, Marine Festival Queen contest chairman, reported on the contest. There still remain twenty - eight candidates in the contest which is drawing to a close. Mary Kuemmel, Hospital chairman, reported that she was accompanied by Kathy Fuhler on May 21 when she visited Downey hospital. The men played games and then were served refreshments. She announced that the annual Downey hospital carnival will be held on June 24 and 25. The Hospital chairman's award which Mary received at the 5th district meeting in May was presented to the auxiliary by Mary. Poppy Chairman Mary Kuemmel reported on a successful "Poppy Day". At this time Lorraine Loss, a member of the ladies' auxiliary to VFW Post 5040, Woodstock, announced that the assistant poppy chairman for the 5th district was present to make an award. Frank Loss was escorted into the meeting to present a citation to Mary Kuemmel, which read as follows: "Inrecognition of effective use of Buddy Poppy, in telling the story of the VFW efforts to aid the disabled and needy veterans through programs made possible by public support of the annual sale of Buddy Poppies." Announcement was made that Sunshine Chairman Florence Tussey was hospitalized at the McHenry hospital. A wish for a speedy release is expressed by all the members. Mary Kuemmel, Ila Hogan and Gerry Breede gave brief reports on the VFW 5th district meeting. Among the reports were mention of the National Home legislation which mentioned two bills in the 90th Congress on a veteran's cemetery in the state of Illinois and education for veteran's widows, the prayers for peace service on June 14 held at St. Peter's church in Chicago, and the results of the election of office ers for the 5th district of the ladies auxiliary.
