Mr. Longhway and his sons portaged their can­ oe into Canada where they land­ ed an eleven and a half pound Northern. They spent one day shopping in the Canadian stores and also celebrated Jim's six­ teenth birthday while on their trip. Kathy Longhway reports she had a wonder graduation party Tuesday, June 10, Help­ ing Kathy celebrate along with 385- her own family were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rowe and fam­ ily, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fruik and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Fuhler, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rossman, Mr. and Mrs. Rich­ ard Rosing and family, Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Voight, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fetzner and son. MATTHEW BRUHN < CHRISTENED Little Matthew Joseph Bruhn was christened at St. Patrick's church on Sunday, June 22. Lit­ tle Matt is Paul and Mary Bruhn's second grandchild, their first being his brother, Shane. The Bruhns reside on Crescent avenue. Paul Bruhn, Jr., was thevgodfather and Mrs. Barbara Taylor of Waukegan was the godmother. Following the ceremony a luncheon and cake and coffee were ser­ ved at the home of the baby's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bruhn. Guests helping to cel­ ebrate Matthew's christening were his paternal great-grand­ mother, Mrs. Paul Bruhn, Sr., Of Chicago, paternal great- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nihill, Sr., of Golfview road, McHenry, maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Mar­ garet Bradke of Waukegan, Mrs. Paul Bruhn and son, Dennis. Paul Bruhn was unable to at­ tend because of a business trip. Putnam 4 is attending a two-week workshop on junior high administration at Northern Illinois university, DeKalb. Mr. Putnam, 306 N. Hill road, Mc­ Henry, is participating in the seminar which focuses on"Re- tooling" junior high school. At the university's seventh junior high school workshop, Putnam and his colleagues eval­ uate various facets of the jun­ ior high and plan future educa­ tion for early adolescents. In­ novation, curriculum, organ­ ization, attitudes, teaching William Andrele and son, Will­ iam, Jt., and daughter, Judy, of Wheat on, Mrs. Margaret Ni­ hill and daughter, Regina, of Wheaton, Mr. and Mrs. John Nihill, Jr., and family also of Wheaton. Our congratulations to the parents, grancfcarents and great-grandparents and most of all little Matthew. There haven't been any birth­ days or anniversaries lately but the cooperation Pve been getting the past few weeks makes writing the Country Club news a pleasure. Till next week methods, the building and the school year are among areas discussed. | A /ield trip to Westview Jun­ ior high, at Romeoville, near Lockport, was part of the pro­ gram during the week from June 29 to July 5. Westview offic­ ials are considering adoption of a 12-month school year with staggered vacation periods. Major consultant for the workshop is Dr. Mauritz John­ son, professor of education, State University of New York, Albany. A junior high special­ ist, Johnson has been the dean of Cornell University School of Education and director of the Cornell Junior high project. Workshop director is Dr. Thomas A. Sinks,principal, Un- ivei^sty Junior high. Also on the planning committee are John E. Hess, faculty assistant and NIU doctoral candidate; Dr. A. Ker- by Tink, professor of education; and Drs. Eldon Scriven and Nan­ cy Vedral, assistant pro­ fessors. CIRCUS IN WOODSTOCK TTie Sells and Gray Circus will exhibit in Woodstock on Saturday, July 12, for perfor­ mances at 2 and 8 p.m. under the auspices-^f Jaycees. The circus grounds is located at Woodstock City Park and the public is invited to visit the grounds and watch the setting up activity on circus day. WED.
