McHenry scored two runs in the second on a walk by Tom Janik, a single by Mike Freund and a single by .sieve George. McHenry scored two more runs in the third inning on a walk to Mike Janik and a double by John Pitzen which drove in Jan ik and a single by John Smith driving in the second run. McHenry came back with 3 runs in the third inning on a 2-base hit by Stahlman and a walk to Mike Janik, a walk to Pitzen and another walk to Tom Jan ik. JohnSmithlhenhad a doribie, driving in two runs. At the end of 4 innings the game wa i halted because of rain with the score 4 to 3. The game was resumed on Sunday from the point it was halted on account of rain. Mc Henry was unable to put any kind of attack together on Sun day and lost 9 to 3. McHenry beat Joliet in a do or die game to remain alive in the district tournament. Joliet took a 1 to 0 lead in the first inning on a home run by Ober- lin. They added 3 more runs in the 4th to take a 4 to 0 lead which they held 'till the 6th inning. Tom Janik lead off the sixth with a base hit, Freund reached first on an error, Steve George also got on with an er ror, r Tom Janik scoring. Rohrer, pinch hitting tor O'Con nor, was safe on a fielders choice scoring Freund. Rein- No More Deer Permits For McHenry County Springfield, 111., July 7 -- Deer hunting permits are no longer available in La Salle and Wayne Counties. William L. Rutherford, director of the Illinois Department of Conser vation, said the quotas had been filled in those counties. Quotas have now been reach ed in four counties, jp addition to the above two, McHenry and Fulton Counties have been closed. Association Accepts Donation from County Bowling Proprietors One of the groups interested in the srccessful operation of the McHenry County As sociation for the Retarded* s Pi oneer Center for the Ex ceptional is the McHenry Coun ty ^ ' ation. Each year this organ ization makes a sizable do nation to the McHenry County Association for the Retarded to aid in the operation of the vo cational training center in Mc- Cullom Lake. The Pioneer Center for the Exceptional is a vital part of the total community effort in McHenry County that deals with the vocational training of its exceptional residents. In order to maintain the program at the Pioneer Center, the organiza tion must rely on contributions from interested individuals or groups. Contributions to the McHenry County Association for the Retarded, unless spec ified by the donor, are used to purchase equipment such as industrial motors, wire twist ing devices, and hand tools that are necessary to complete the contracts secured from local industry. These funds are also used to purchase the equipment necessary to operate the social and recreational programs at the Center. Although the McHenry Coun ty Association for the Retarded receives funds from the State of Illinois through the Depart ment of Mental Health and from the County, through the Men tal Health Board, these funds cannot be used for the purchase of equipment. The money re ceived from these two sources is used for the operation of the program other than the equip ment necessary for trairisg, Further information con cerning the Pioneer Center for the Exceptional and its opera tion can be obtained by contact ing Louis F. Here's hoping that Tuesday's game will be played. Even with a slight shower there managed to be a ball gsme the Giants and Mets on Tues., July 8. Pitch ing for the Giants was Knaack, Camasta and Tonyan, doing the catching were Steindorfer and Camasta. For the Giants it was thirteen hits, two were round- trippers by Tiggerman and doubles by Steindorfer and Hur- kes, three walks and one strike out. Pitching for the Mets it was Brite and Walker, and Rue - melin caught the whole game. Mets had the foUowing: three hits, one a homer by Choate, eleven walks and four strike outs. The final score Giants-- 12, Mets--7. Well, what do ya know, here it is Wednesday and we got by with another ball game, this one was the Braves vs Cubs. Bolger pitched the whole game allowing the Cubs only one hit and that is sume pitching. Here is the run down. For the Braves it was ten hits, two doubles and a home run by Miller, and a hom er by Mauch, nine walks, one strikeout and twelve runs. Do ing the catching for the Braves were Pitzen and Buss. For the Cubs it was one hit, nine walks, five strikeouts and two runs. The battery for the Cubs were Winters and Fossum pitching, and the catching was done fay Frost. .The final score was Braves--12, Cubs-- 2. Well, finally the weatherman is going along with us, meaning that we got in another ball game, this one was between the Cards and the Mets. When I say that the Mets threw a scare in to the Cards I don't mean may be 'cause the score went up and down for seven innings. The battery for the Mets was Choate and Rue melin all the way. For the Mets: fourteen hit*, four walks, five strikeouts and thir teen runs. For the Cards it was Worm and Grover pitching and Prazak doing the catching. The Cards had the following rundown: seventeen hits, three walks, seven strikeouts and fourteen runs. There were five round trippers hit in this game. They were by the following boys on the Cards--Bartos one, Pra zak two, and on the Mets Brite and Walker. Walker and Ubrig had two-baggers for the Mets. Bartos of the Cards had two doubles. The final score was Cards--14, Mets--13. Well for Friday's game we went back to the old story game called wet grounds so that is all ' we can say.
