A tax is hereby im­ posed upon all persons engaged in the business of selling tan­ gible personal property at re­ tail in this city at the rate of one per-cent of the gross re­ ceipts from such sales made in the course of such business while this ordinance is in ef­ fect, in accordance with the pro­ visions of Section 8-11-1 of the Illinois Municipal Cpde.
