MISS HARVARD WINS CROWN AS COUNTY BEAUTY After almost three months of concentration in striving for glory and satisfaction in beauty pageantry, Debbie Brady, Har vard, newly-crowned Miss Mc Henry County, can relax for a time. Debbie, also the reigning Harvard Milk Day queen, cap tured the Miss McHenry Count- ty honor at last week's McHen ry County Fair to dominate opening day action this year. An overflow crowd filled the grandstand to watch the most tightly-contested of these beauty pageants in the twenty- one year history of the county fair. Debbie^ scored strongly in both formals and swim suits. She led by a small but no ticeable margin after the end of the formals according to the scorecards. Debbie was first on two swimsuit scorecards, tying for second one point behind Miss Sandra Scott, Miss Richmond, first runnerup, on the third card. One judge accorded her a perfect score of 100 in swim suit, with the next rating a 95 to Jan Brown, Miss Wood stock, who finished in a second runnerup tie, with Paula Os- borned, Miss Marengo. The 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brady, sponsored by the Harvard Ro tary club in the contest, to taled 571 points in the first round scoring used to choose the top five. A n o t h e r c o v e t e d h o n o r -- Miss Congeniality -- was voted Valerie Garrett, Miss Hebron. The recognition was voted by the candidates who became well acquainted through their trav eling for radio and Tilevision appearances and for participa tion in local parades at Har vard, Woodstock and McHenry. Other candidates were Pen ny Ruth, Miss Huntley; Claudia Loy, Miss Algonquin; Cheryl Tomao, Miss McHenry: Bonnie Benson, Miss Union; Nancy De Werdt, Miss Wonder Lake; and Cindi • Sutton, Miss Crystal Lake. Orion Samuelson, the genial WGN-TV farm director, guided the candidates through the pro gram in skillful style.
