THE BEST OF EVERYTHING FOR THE BUILDER On Highway 31 South of Main Street - McHenry, Illinois HERE ANOTHElfc IN BUSINESS Jefferson was the first Pres ident to wear long trousers in public. Commonwealth Edison com pany Friday filed revised rate schedules with the Illinois Com merce commission in an ap plication for a general rate in crease that would affect sub stantially all of the electric company's 2W2 million custom ers. ,, The proposed increase of ap proximately 6.1 per cent would produce additional revenues es timated at about $3,750,000 a month. The net gain to the com pany would be only about $1,- 600,000 a month, due to feder al and state income taxes and other tax obligations. - In announcing the application, J. Harris Ward, Commonwealth Edison chairman, pointed out that even with the increase, the company's residential cus tomers will be paying less per kilowatt-hour of electricity than they did 10 years ago. In most localities served by the company, increases for res idential customers would gen erally range from about 50 cents a month for 300 kilowatt-hours of use to about $1.00 a month for 600 kilowatt-hours of use. Residential space heating cus tomers would be subject to the higher charges for general household uses of electricity, but wo&W continue to get heat ing energy at the present rate of 1.10 cents per kilowatt-hour.
