Boys Town Choir Will Visit Area Music enthusiasts are in for a new experience on Monday evening, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. in Waukegan high school, West campus auditorium when the Boys Town choir comes to Wau kegan on its twenty-second na tional concert tour. This unique artistic group is composed of formerly homeless boys who now are citizens of Father Flan agan's Boys' Home, Boys Town, Neb. Under the able direction of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Francis P. Schmitt, the choirboys, ranging in age from 10 to 18, project their artistry in programs varied to include the glorious polyphony of the 16th century composers, the lilt of Vien nese waltzes, and the gayety of folk songs of all nations. The Boys Town concert choir, to be heard here under the aus pices of Local 423, Waukegan Firefighters, is one of three choirs at Boys Town. More than 200 of the 900 citizens of the City of Little Men take part in the vocal music program, while other hundreds study in strumental music. The 1966 tour called for more than fifty concerts in the mid west, eastern states and Can ada, over a nine-week period. Still Father Schmitt and his charges found time to practice Christmas music in prepara tion for a heavy schedule of broadcasts and appearances during the holiday season. Critics the country dverhave called the Boys Town choir "second to none and superior to most!" MISSION FESTIVAL Final preparations are be ing made for the annual Mis sion festival to be held Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Convent of the Holy Spirit, Techny, Illinois.
