Special BreacL To Be Offered For Benefit When Bob Vieregg goes into his kitchen with bread in mind, things really begin to happen. He is one of the many men who really lend a hand to the Woman's auxiliary of Memor ial Hospital for McHenry Coun ty on the one big event of the year - Holiday Hospitality Day. He is noted for his sour dough French bread and despite his busy schedule, sees to it that he personally bakes between 50 and 60 loaves of this bread to be sold in the bake shop situ ated in the Congregational Un- iversalist church on that big day, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. He recalls that the recipe originally came from San Fran- cisco. The story goes that many years ago a French freighter came into'port. When the sail ors demanded their favorite bread there was none. So dis mayed was one of the crew that he jumped ship, started his own bakery and gave the United States its first sour dough French bread. Better than one and one-half pounds to a Bob Vieregg loaf, each is wrapped and sealed in heavy plastic, ready to be frozen (if you're strong) or eaten for dinner at once.
