V\'illiam 0'- Rourke officiating. Twenty-four little tots of pre­ school age are enrolled in kin­ dergarten. Hie house owned by Nick Jus - ten and situated at the corner of Routes 61 and 20 in Mc- Henry is being razed. It was recently vacated by Mrs. Chris­ tina Young, who has movad to Elgin. The lot commands a won­ derful situation at the corner of these two popular state high­ ways and no doubt, Mr. Justen will have many golden oppor­ tunity for the use of this lot. Mrs, Peter Heimer has dis­ continued the bakery sale on Riverside drive, but will take orders for baking. John A. Bolger, Robert Louis Weber and Augustine Mat Freund staged a brilliant con­ test for golf honors last week after a season devoted to prac­ tice for the big event. Gus wa3 supposed to be the odds on the favorite but somehow or other both Bob and the Irish feed man came through and forced the Johnsburger to buy the steaks. Bob shot a 46, John, a 48, and Gus a 49. Rosedale, the popular sum­ mer resort and greenhouses, has been sold to Mathias Tin- nes, a mason contractor of Chicago. Mrs. Minnie Miller, the former owner of the prop­ erty, will move to the N.H. Petesch house in this city. The levelling and grading of the property at the rear of the grade school has been com­ pleted and will be a noticeable improvement also affording the pupils more playground. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS \GO (Taken from the files of Sept. 28, 1944) The local fire department wa3 called to the Hunter Boat Compaq to extinguish flames which destroyed a boa: which was on land near the factory. Cause of the fire has not been determine i. Relatives and friends of ser­ vicemen of the Johnsburg com­ munity are requested to be pre­ sent Sunday, Oct. 1, at St. John's church when the dedica­ tion of the honor roll will take place. The local post of the American Legion will be in charge with Rev. Fr. Neidert, pastor, blessing the flag and honor roll. General speaker of the day will be State's At­ torney Carroll. After serving aboard an air craft carrier for twenty-five months, Marine Corporal Rich­ ard F. Juslan is home to v'sit with relatives and friends for thirty days. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collins spent Sunday in Forest Glen where they attended the golden wedding celebration of her aunl and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Mar­ shall Kay. In a quiet but lovely ceremony performed i l the rectory of St. Mary's church, Sept. 23, Miss Betty Althoff became the bride of Mr. Jack Phelan of Wood­ stock. Msgr. C.S. Nix offici­ ated at the 4 o'clock service. The surgical dressing de­ partment recently celebrated its second anniversary in Mc- Henry. Many of our workers are now receiving their second year bars. In two years time Mc- Henry women have made 98,000 2x2 and 4x4 dressings. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Oct. 1, 1959) One of the most unfortunate tragedies occurred Sept. 25 when a dump truck loaded with sand crashed on Route 31 tak­ ing the life of Norman Larsen, 39, of McCullom Lake. Elizabeth Kilgore of Sunset View, Rt. 1, McHenry, was treated at McHenry hospital for injuries suffered early Thurs­ day evening in an accident near the intersection of Idyll Dell road south of the city., The Jack Fleming family has moved from the Fleming house on Washington street to a new home in Edgebrook Heights. While in Chicago recently Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gans enjoyed dinner with Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Wells, Los Angeles, Calif. Dr. Wells, a former resident of McHenry, was enroute toaden­ tal convention in New York City. The many friends of Charles Miller, 51, joined the family in mourning his untimely death Sept. 25. He died in McHenry hospital where he had been a patient for only one day. (0linqu)ooJ (h ngivoo DOLORES ERENNAN OUTDOOR RECORD HOP HELD AT BE AM AN HOME A swinging good time was enjoyed last Friday evening with thirty-five junior high young­ sters joining in a record dance held at the home of Mrs. Na- dine Beaman, with Margie Bea- man as hostess. Chaperones for the evening were John Winston, Donna Bar­ ker and Judy Winston. They kept the records going for all to dance to, seeing to it that all enjoyed the music. Pop, kool-aid, pop corn and chips were enjoyed by all. Brother Larry Beaman arrived etcs 653-9045 to bring additional pop for all. A fun party like this is fun, with no special occasion, just a fun party. NEW RESIDENTS WELCOMED New residents at 4819 Bar­ nard Mill road, formerly the Baker home, include Richafd and Christine Gillespie and their four youngsters, Nancy, age 12; Joanne, age 10; Mark, age 8, and Richard, Jr., age 4. The Gillespies recently pur­ chased their new home, and have moved this past weekend. Wel­ come to our little town! BIRTHDAYS ETC. I goofed last week! I slipped up on a cousin's birthday. Rog Bauer celebrated an over 30 birthday on Sept. 21.
