Coach Don Seaton displays the overall trophy to co-captains Brad Pictor and Bruce Davis. The McHenry cross country team captured this prize at the Crystal Lake-Grant Invita tional meet at Crystal Lake last Saturday. PLAINDEALER PHOTO "EARL WALSH SO I HEAR -SPORTS EDITOR J October is here ... the month we love. When the air is crisp and the trees are putting on new colors, we enjoy rides in the country. Some people walk. When that blamed alarm clock sounds off in the morning, we think it is time to go back to standard time. Maybe it's the generation gap. Just as we sat down to start this column, Tiny Tin; came on the screen. His looks and voice ......up. are "tawf^ice Welk fan n&e us'can take. How about you, Arnold Rauen? But, let us not get started on the subject of mob rule. Our blood pressure goes that-away The grapevine tells us that Ed Doyle is doing missionary work out there in the west. He has al ready converted his pastor to the cause of the Cubs. Pray a * little more, Ed. Just reading sports and find the Badger football team is favored over Syracuse by 6 points. That's a shocker. Let's hope they make it. Some groups are starting early to send us boxes of Christmas cards which we did not order and do not want. There was a time when we thought it best to pay for them. But, our name must have reached too many sucker lists. Now we re fuse them. On another page we read about 1500 Wisconsin Univer sity students joining the march on an invasion of the State Cap itol. The group took over and did $26,000 damage to the build ing. We think they should pay. Hear tell our high school freshmen have won three foot ball games. With our sophs do ing so well, we get new hope. Our varsity should be much bet ter next year and the year after. We think any group should be heard through their represent tatives. But, when a mob takes over they should be booted out. Hope our Warriors can show us a victory Friday night. Loyal fans need something to cheer about. SPORTS BOWLING, NOTES Some people do not need sun glasses according to the Illinois society for the Prevention of Blindness. They feel no discom fort from the sun's rays, even at the beach. Others, especially those who work indoors, may need sunglasses to provide eye comfort when at the beach or when skiing. But even those who d6 not require sunglasses should never look directly at the sun because it can burn the ret ina of the eye. This can also happen when wearing the darkest glass available, the so ciety states. McHENRY RECREATION Sunday Nite Mixed League N. Groh, 602; B. Stahlman, 563; E. Perry, 511; H. Durkin, 559; N.
