We do have fun. Sometimes you get frus trated, but some of our activ ities put you in a happier mood. We're not saying that everything is smooth, that everything doesn't get rough. We're saying that when we work together and do things together we seem to get an enjoyment out of it. Now we can answer our own question -- what is 4-H? 4-H is an organization which promotes fun in doing things to gether. Yes, why don't you join and help us to unite the peo ple of the world in "making the best better", together. Lakeland Merry Makers NAMED TO COMMISSION Senator Berning has been ap pointed to serve as a member of the l iaison commission on Higher Education. The commis sion was created by a bill which passed the General Assembly in June and which was approved by Governor Ogilvie in Sep tember. The primary purpose of the commission is to coop erate with the state-wide board of higher education on matters affecting the state junior col leges, colleges and univer sities. It rained and was very cold sp the meet ing was held indoors. The evening started off with the judging of Halloween cos tumes. The prizes were won by a convict, Cliff Bailye; a clown, John Honning, a nursemaid, Steve Lingeman; and a mummy, Chris Pollock. The judges were three very impartial parents and the prizes were awarded by a very mysterious ghost. Jim Kirk represented the k council office and handed out the awards. Fourteen new boys were accepted as Bobcats. The Bobcat pins were given to the parents, who in turn gave them to their sons. The new Bob cats are Cliff Bailye, Patrick Becker, John Blake, Terry Douglas, Charles Foreman, Jeff Freund, Bill Kicek, Dean Preis, Richard Sund, Ed Walker, Bob Weyde, Russ Weingart and Mark Ziszik. Even ask a member and it's hard to answer. Yes, we tried sum ming up our activities, learning, working and projects we've completed and we got a lotal blank. "What about the 5 W's of 4-H?" someone might inquire. Okay, let's see: Who: Boys and girls of A- merica between the ages of 9 and 19. Why: The purpose of our club is to interest young people in better living through 4-H pro jects and activities and to help them in learning to work and have fun together. Where: There are clubs throughout the world. When: We meet on the sec ond Monday of each month. We looked at our records, reports on projects and all the information we keep. If we are asked to look back, and we think we have an answer, this is the best answer we have thought of yet.
