Rg. 8, Sec. 2 - Plaindealer - Wed. Oct. 29, 1969 BEGIN F^FTH ANNUAL YMCA SALE OF CANDY The Lake Region YMCA be gan the fifth annual sale of chocolate-covered thin mints to residents of the Ys four- teen-community service area towns on Oct. 25. All residents are urged to greet the youth salesmen with courtesy as they assist the YMCA in an effort to raise money for the 1969 World Service Projects fund. When greeting prospective custom ers, all salesmen will wear YMCA identification pins and they will offer samples of the delicious mints to their customers. Salesmen are also working to receive awards for the amount of candy they sell. A- wards of a trophy will be pre sented to the group or person who sells more than 100 boxes of the mints. Other incen tive awards are YMC A tee shirts, YMC A sweat shirts, tote bags, youth-memberships, fam ily memberships, or a credit toward the YMCA program of the salesman's choice. Receipts from the candy sale Here and There in Business are turned over to the Inter national Committee of YMCA's to be shared with YMCA's in thirty-nine different countries for the purpose of training peo ple for jobs in needed voca tional fields, teaching literacy courses to youth and adults, helping persons develop their own potential; also by providing the tools and know-how to build better homes, to grow nourish ing foods, and to take care of their physical health, and to es tablish day care centers. The International Comm'.ttee of YMCA's knows that while populations explode and human needs multiply - and crises con tinue to rend cities and nations around the world - the need for YMCAs and YMCA World Service grows. COMPANY QUESTIONNAIRE Many Wonder Lake cus tomers of General Telephone will receive an important ques tionnaire within the next few days, according to the com pany's manager responsible for the Wonder Lake area, Ter- rance L. Biroschik. He explained, "As a part of our continuing program to im prove service, the question naires are being mailed today (10-30-69) from our state head quarters at Bloomington to a scientific, sampling of the cus tomers in the Wonder Lake area. The primary objective of the survey is to determine opin ions and attitudes of customers regarding the service the com pany provides." Biroschik emphasized that the greater the number of cus tomers that complete and return the questionnaire, the more re liable the information will be. Included on the form is a place for the customer's name and telephone number. He pointed out that while it is not abso lutely necessary for this por tion to be filled in, it is very helpful because it allows the company to identify areas in an exchange where specific im provements are necessary. The questionnaire will come with a pre-addressed return envelope and will contain four teen multiple-choice or short- answer questions to expedite its completion by customers. General Telephone is systemat ically surveying various ex changes each month until all 324 exchanges in the 40 percent pf the geographic area of Ill inois served by the company are evaluated. Lose 10 lbs. in 10 days on Grapefruit Diet - This is the revolution ary grapefruit diet thatev eryone is suddenly talking about. Thousands of cop ies have been passed from hand to hand in factories, plants and offices through out the U.S. Because this diet really works. We have testi monials reporting on its success. If you follow it exactly, you should lose 10 pounds in 10 days. No weight loss in the first four days but you will sud denly drop 5 pounds on the 5th day. Thereafter lose one pound a day until the 10th day. Then you will lose V/2 pounds every two days until you get down to your proper weight. Best of all, there will be no hunger pangs. Revised and en larged, this diet lets you stuff yourself with former ly "forbidden" goods, such as steaks trimmed with fat, roast or fried chicken, gravies, mayonnaise, lob ster swimming in butter, bacon fats, sausages and scrambled eggs and still lose weight. The secret behind this "quick weight loss" diet is simple. Fat does not form fat. P. *d the grapefruit juice in this diet acts as a catalyst (the "trigger"), to start the fat burning process. You stuff yourself on the permitted food listed in the diet plan, and still lose unsightly fat and excess body fluids. A copy of this startling suc cessful diet can be obtained by sending $3 to: Gulf Co. P.O. Box 524 Lincoln, Nebraska 68501 Money-back guarantee. If after trying the diet you have not lost 7 pounds in the first seven days, an other 6 pounds in the next 7 days, and Impounds ev ery two days, thereafter, simply return the diet plan and your $3 will be re funded promptly and with out argument. Tear out this message as a reminder. Decide now to regain the trim attractive figure of your youth. Over 1,000 scouts attended the camp oree, held at the Rockford air port. Two of our new Scouts, Bill Steinback and Mike Freund, were excited about being on their first camp-out with our troop. The boys participated in many events including rope climbing, compass games, height and distance calculation, archery and the half-mile Scout pace race alternating running and walking. John Cunat, our senior patrol leader, disting uished himself by winning the log toss. He tossed a log the size of a fence post farther than any other Scout at the Camporee and brought home a first prize for our troop. Quite a feat. Congratulations, John. John's father, Dean Cunat, and Scoutmaster Bob Decker were leaders at the outing. Sunday found our Scouts par ticipating in their ususal game- rain dodging. The boys came home with wet clothes, sleep ing bags and tents. It was a pleasure and a privilege to do so. A per son couldn't find better par ents, grandparents, friends and neighbors as they. They keep their home, grounds and pos sessions as nice as can be. "They try to help whenever, and whomever they can. They are doctor or nurse to all an imals; and candy helps tears from little children too. ILPh. HOARSENESS Unfortunately many of us tend to ignore hoarseness, as just a ^symptom of a cold. Hoarseness is not considered a disease, but when it persists longer than three weeks a doctor should be consulted. The major concern here is the possibility of mal ignancy. Early diagnosis may save your voice and /or life. This condition is caused by an interference of the normal vibrations of the larynx. Some of the causes are inflammation, irritation from smoking, hys teria, or paralysis of the vo cal structure. When breathing becomes difficult, the larynx must be examined especially in persons who have laryngeal trouble. Infection is ususally suspected in children but, in adults this condition may be cancer, swelling, or even hem orrhaging into the wall of the larynx. Back in 1958, you didn't find many people with enough nerve to install an electric heating system when they built a new home. People said it was out rageously expensive... and terribly unreliable. But Ferd Larson believed differently...and even though Mrs. Larson was against it, he was determined to have electric heat. Over the years, the Larsons have been con vinced they made the right decision. Because the only repairs they've needed in eleven years have amounted to a new fan motor and a few adjustments-nothing more. And today, they heat their 7-room home for just a little more than $200 a year. Over 35,000 families in Northern Illinois heat their homes electrically...and 10,000 more will join them this year. Shouldn't you find out about electric heat? It's really true what they say... TheJ)right new ideas are ~ Commonwealth Edison Company ©C.E. Co.
