% • Numerous Accidents In Community Cause Injuries The Mc Henry Plaindealer news truck was badly damaged in a two-vehicle accident which occurred Wednesday afternoon at 3:30. There also was consid­ erable damage to the car in­ volved. George Smolzer of 2712 N. Shore wood was driving the truck east at the corner of Rt. 120 and Draper road when a car travelling west, driven by Frank Lorch of 4903 Fountain lane, made a left turn in front of him. Lorch, who was taken to Mc- Henry hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises, was ticket­ ed- for failure to yield the right of way. Dale R. Whitney erf 8712 Ram­ ble road, Wonder Lake, was slightly injured in a two-car accident Friday morning on Rt. 120, at Ringwood road. Whitney stated he was west­ bound on the highway, in dense fog. When he was about 30 yards frprjj^tUngwood road he saw Waler E. Crowley of Wood­ stock, on a tractor-trailer, pulling out in front of him. The vehicles collided. Rt. 176, near the entrance to Bayview Beach road, was the scene of an accident one re- cent day, involving cars driv- en by Ardreth A. Alsing of Rt. 9, McHenry, who was injured, and a passenger, Helen E. Jette of Island Lake, slightly hurt. Ardreth Alsing was driving east when she noticed a boy riding a bicycle, and with him a dog on the shoulder of the road. The dog ran in front of the auto. As she swerved to miss the animal, her car left the road, tearing down 100 feet of fenc­ ing and five posts. The two women were treated at Mc­ Henry hospital, where they were taken by ambulance. The car of Mrs. Marianne McGowan of 3430 Elm street, McHenry, was completely de­ molished Ik st Saturday evening about 11 o'clock when the auto travelled along the right shoul­ der of the road, then returned, travelling about 90 feet through the west ditch before striking a large tree. Mrs. McGowan was treated at McHenry hos­ pital and released. The acci­ dent occurred during a heavy fog. Terri R. Karsten of 4820 W. Rt. 120, McHenry, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after her auto went out of control on Draper road about 7:25 last Thursday. She told deputies she failed to see the curve until it was too late. As she applied the brakes, the car went out of control, skidded for more than 100 feet and left the road. Another Thursday accident resulted in a ticket issued to Thordis R. Andrews for driv- in the wrong lane. Thordis Andrews, who re­ sides at 9219 Pine street, Won­ der Lake, said she was blinded by the lights of an oncoming car as she drove over a knoll. Michael Church of 8617 Memory trail, Wonder Lake, said he was east-bound on Pine when the other car swerved into his lane. Marcus Johnson of Woodstock was blamed by deputies for a two-car accident on Rt. 47 Thursday afternoon. The sec­ ond driver was Antoni B. Chris- tensen of 8711 Shady lane, Won­ der Lake. Johnson said he was backing, travelling east, when he saw the car in back of him. Christen- sen told authorities he had pull­ ed out of a parking lot and was unable to get out of the way. Tom Meyer was treated at McHenry hospital and released after the car in which he was a passenger went out of con­ trol. She had been married for fifty-four years to Joseph Schaefer, who survives. Other survivors are a daugh­ ter, Mrs. Alfred (Eleanor) Mil­ ler of Ringwood; a son, El­ mer, of Woodstock; five grand- . children; a great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Mil­ ler of Ringwood and a broth­ er, William Justen, Crystal Lake. The body rests at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. . OLIVER BENTLEY Oliver Leroy Bentley, 82, was found dead at the Lawn home, 7310 W. Trey road, Mc­ Henry , Monday morning. Cor­ oner Theron Ehorn said death was attributed to pneumonia. Mr. Bentley had been resid­ ing with the Lawn family for fifteen years. The body was removed to a Chicago chapel for arrange­ ments. fi CO u k VANDALISM Peter Ipolitto of 4405 Ponca, McHenry, reported to police that vandalism had occurred in his front yard on Monday, where garbage cans were dumped and a statue overturned.
