Among the county designated representativejSy^pting delegates and alternates from Illinois/were from left: Howard Mullins, Shabbona, BeKalb county; Ervin Walters, He­ bron, McHenry county; Howard J. Bonner, Lake 300 Celebrate 50th Year Of Farm Bureau More than 300 farmers from seventy Illinois counties are among the estimated 5,000 in attendance at the fiftieth an­ niversary annual meeting of the American Farm Bureau feder­ ation in Washington, D.C. this week. Those from Illinois include the fourteen voting delegates and six alternates representing the Illinois Agricultural assoc­ iation (all IAA board members) as well as designated county representatives of fifty Illin­ ois county Farm Bureaus. The four-day convention ends Thursday, Dec. 11, with the adoption of the organization's policy positions on a wide range of national and international issues. These policies will guide Farm Bureaus' legis­ lative and organizational efforts in the coming year. The designated county Farm Bureau representatives attend­ ing the convention received special recognition at a Farm Bureau leadership dinner Wed­ nesday night, Dec. 10. They will report on the convention tooth­ er Farm Bureau members and leaders when they return home. Villa, Lake county; John White, Jr., Elburn, Kane county; John L. Vick, Lombard, DuPage county; Jack Young, St. Charles, Kane county; and Gary Turner, Garden Prairie, Boone county. Young is a member of the Illinois Agricultural association board of directors representing the district comprised of Boone, McHenry, Lake, DeKalb and Kane counties. \ There are 2,814 organized county Farm Bureaus in the United States of which 99 are in Illinois. Roger Fleming, American Farm Bureau federation secre­ tary-treasurer, reported that the organization's golden an­ niversary year also marks its highest membership level --total membership now being 1,865,854, a gain of 69,213 ov­ er last year.
