Seems like the year slips by faster every year an* we old folks find it a little more dif ficult t* git ready fer the hol idays, though the spirit is the same. A gittin' all the pack ages sent, the letters writ, an' the cookies an' sich, baked an' ready fer all the family an* friends, is the real part o' Christmas fer us grandmas. WP all the world in sich a fracas, it's a real pleasure t' be able t' enjoy the commun ity spirit, an' all the genuine friendliness throughout our lit- Qe town an' thereabouts. A great amount o' effort is put fctrth, by certain individuals, tS' pervide a wholesome an' happy holiday atmosphere, fer aft t' enjoy. It's the most ffleasurable place I've ever found, f make it my home. » HOME! That's a lovely word, especially t' those who're far from' it at this family time o* year. Ifd be a real Christmas, it we could bring all the boys an' girls, in the armed forces, home fer the holiday, at least. It sich a time should come, when folks could live, all over the world, in friendly brotherhood, that'll be the time fer real celebration. -One thing that bothers this oP lady, is the way folks seem f. hev lost the sense o' val ues we once had, fer the mat erial things necessary to our way o' life. From my point o* view, it'd be good t' git back t* where we could have the feeling* fer Christmas that doesn't need t' be shown by givin' presents, but by the love, demonstrated in acts o* kind ness. It don't take the material things f make Christmas, but jist the knowledge that there is love an' consideration fer one's neighbor, an* the stranger we might meet on our way through life. Seems there's been so much concentration on mat erial demonstration o' Christ mas that the true meanin* is lost in the display. Christmas is a religious holiday, all over the world, and t' my mind, re gion deals with the spirit. Now, don't git me wrong. Ifs nice t' remember the chil dren wi' somethin' new or a toy 'x two, in honor o' the good S|unt Nicholas, an' in the man ner o' the wisemen, bringin' gifts t' the child, Jesus. PLAINDEALER PHOTO Infant Son Of Curt Ericksons Is Christened The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Erickson of 5505 when younguns git so much, they become bewildered, an' don't know which toy t' look at first, that's overdoin' it, an' I've seen that happen many a time. The real fault wi' it is, that younguns lose the right sense o' values fer everthin', an' the more they git, the less regard they hev fer everithin'. Seems t' me, we shouldgitback t' the way we used t' feel, when we got a new pair o* shoes, an' a nice book, or dol ly. Bet ye'd be surprised what it'd do fer our society. Folks hev too much these days. Ifd be better fer all, jist t' wish ever*one a "Merry Christmas, to aU*4* jist as I'm adoin' now. So, have yourself a Merry Christmas.
