They said it also appeared that a nearby cottage may have been the object of vandalism. Checking further, they found that a home owned by Dr. James K. Samutlson, 12301 S. Halsted street, Chicago, had been en tered by breaking a pane of glass in the front door. Field glasses and other items of value were untouched and vandalism was slight. Police said it appeared that someone entered to get warm, as burned papers and rags were found on the floor. Fishermen they talked with in the area said they had obser ved no activity on the island. All homes had fresh tracks around them but none led to the doors. It was believed the break-ins appeared before the most recent snow and were un noticed by those responsible for checking the area. This would do away with the front foot charge, the reason ing being that most lots are not large enough to permit more than one dwelling and one ser vice. In spreading the assess ment, unusual situations would be considered. The method of assessment will be considered by the Board of Local Improve ments. ----- ----- MUSIN' N MEANDERIN' (Continued from page 1) essary from any one person. Contrary to past behavior traits of the weather man, Mountain Home, Ark., (their new home) failed to be spared this time, and while the Bogers were enjoying a few weeks up north, their new south ern home was having consider able snow heaped upon it. Sitting behind a desk, it is difficult to convince the man- on-the-street that this weather makes us feel good.Maybe it's the high barometer, or maybe we just have a taste for unusual temperatures. Whatever the reason, as long as the sun shines and the roads are free of snow, there is an appeal in the brisk ness of January's zero temper atures. .tote hl»h- pg. 8 .
