It is hoped that all Marian parents will make an effort to attend this meeting. The Marian Central High School Council of Administra tion- on Jan. 6 voted to raise tuition per pupil from $250 to $350 yearly while at the same time continuing to allow a dis count tuition rate of 25 per cent for each additional mem ber of a family, beginning with the 1970-71 school year. Call 653-9137. 116 70 The vote and subsequent in crease came reluctantly after a review of the school's fi nancial situation by the Coun cil of Administration at its monthly meeting. Marian, in its ten years of existence, has established a good academic record. Over 80 per cent of Marian students have gone on after graduation to fur ther education or vocational training. Seventy per cent have gone on to college or univer sity levels. These accomplish ments have been made possible through the efforts of the par ents, parishes, students and faculty of the Marian commun ity. In the past ten years, these efforts have been financed by two principal sources of income - tuition and parish assess ments. However, despite the fact that ttiition has already been increased jmce and parish assessments six times, these increases will no longer enable the school to keep pace with the spiraling costs of quality education. In 1961, per pupil yearly costs kt Marian were $216. It is es timated that the per pupil year ly cost for the 1970-71 school year will be $730. Therefore, the Council found itself forced to ask the parents to pay a more proportionate share of the cost for the quality ed ucation of their children. n On Feb. 9, at Marian Cen tral at 8 p.m., a general meet- Know Your Ducks!
