Eberle Jr., of 7417 South drive, Wonder Lake, is serving at the U.S. Naval Air station, Meridian, Miss. Marine Master Sergeant Glenn G. Waltrip, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn G. Waltrip of Mylith Park, McHenry, was a- warded the Navy Achievement medal during ceremonies held at the Marine Corps Recruit depot, San Diego. He received the award for outstanding achievement in the performance of his duties. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Robert J. Wittinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Wit­ tinger of 7818 Highview drive, Wonder Lake, helped mark the fifteenth anniversary of nuclear power in the U.S. Navy while serving aboard the nuclear- powered guided missile cruiser USS Long Beach with the Seventh Fleet in the Tonkin Gulf. January 1970 marks fifteen successful years since the sub­ marine USS Nautilus trans­ mitted the. famous message "underway on nuclear power." Since then the Navy's nuclear- powered fleet has grown to eighty-seven submarines and four surface vessels. The Long Beach has seen duty ranging from the Mediter­ ranean to its present location off the coast of Vietnam. In 1964, the Long Beach, together with the nuclear-powered air­ craft carrier USS Enterprise and the nuclear-powered guided missile frigate USS Bainbridge, successfully completed the first world cruise of nuclear- powered surface warships. Politicar Corner GIVES RESIGNATION The official announcement that he has resigned from du­ ties as sergeant in the sheriffs department of McHenry county was made by Richard F. Jus- ten of McHenry on Tuesday. Justen, a candidate for the of­ fice of sheriff, had requested a leave of absence, which he said was refused by Sheriff Carroll on the grounds that there is no provisionforaleave of absence in the sheriff de­ partment. Justen quoted y Fees and Salaries committee directive in regard to time off, with­ out pay, allowed "if the de­ partment head feels the indi­ vidual may be spared away from their duties without hamper­ ing the operation of the de­ partment." Reclassification Of Property In Area Requested A hearing on a petition for reclassification of property in this area will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Crystal Lake council cham­ bers. The petition has been filed for hearing before the McHenry County zoning board of appeals for the Terra Cotta Realty Co., for a change from-"F" farming to "1-2" industrial and further for a conditional use permit to allow the location and mainten­ ance of a plant center by the Ill­ inois Bell Telephone company on the northwest four acres of one parcel. This includes the right to construct buildings and facilities as may be necessary. The land is composed of sev­ eral parcels in the vicinity of Rt. 31 and Gracey and Ames roads. two Complaints Filed In Week Two complaints have been „ filed in Circuit court affecting area residents. Deputy Sheriff George C. Meyers charges that on Jan. 16 Joseph Koch of 615 Amanda drive, McHenry, committed the offense of operating a motor vehicle without a driver's li­ cense. Bond was set at $500x and a court date of Feb. 2 set. * He was given tickets for im­ proper use of registration, fic­ titious plates no valid regis­ tration and improper lane us­ age. Sgt.
