We left CHare Field Saturday morning, April 4, arrived at Tucson at 1:15 where our friends were waiting. On Sunday we went to the church where they worshiped. We talk ed over old times for we had not seen them for a long time. Their daughter died of cancer leaving three children. Theyhad our sympathy. On Monday the men went to a copper mine south of Tucson. We went shop ping and by mere coincidence met an old friend of ours who recently moved to Minneapolis from Chicago. Quite a surprise. By this time I had an ab- cessed tooth flare up and my face was swollen so we found a dentist, an oral surgeon, Doc tor Bennet, who took out my tooth. I told him I was here for only a week so I did want to see things and he said, "you will". He did a good job and also said we could use his cot tage on top of Mount Lemon for the day and would give us the key. Such were the friendly folk of Tucson. On Wednesday we went to Nogales, Mexico, and spent money, and saw how they live up in the hills. On our way back we stopped at Lake Pena Blance to cool off, had some Mexican food, Tacos. On Thursday our friends with whom we were staying, and our friend from Minnesota all went to the Colossal Cave, 25 miles from Tucson, in the foot hills of the mountains, which was in teresting. The week passed all too quickly. On Sunday we boarded the plane for home, had an in- , tere sting conversation with three young men, who were in Tucson for three weeks, installing a large new pipe organ with 1700 pipes in St. Odelia church. They had completed their job and were on their way back to Ger many where they live and where the organ originated. They were surprised at my ability to speak German and they mastered the English language pretty well being here only three weeks. In three hours we were at CHare Field, where our children met us. They were glad we were home safely. NEWS BITS Mr. and Mrs. Matzeks were Sunday dinner guests at the R.F. O'Briens, 1006 Essex Court. Maureen O'Brien was in a play in her 4-H club held at the high school. The play was taken from the T.V. show "Laugh In". Mr. and Mrs. Robert Uhlman and "Chipper", 1106 N. Sum merset Mall, spent a pleasant Easter weekend with Mr. Uhl- man's folks at Friendship, Wis. More happiness attheUhlmans. On Monday, April 6, Mrs. Uhl man's sister, Mrs. Le Roy 01- liger from Denver, Colo., and her niece, Mrs. Ronald Jensen, from Elmwood Park and a dear friend from Chicago came for lunch and had a real nice visit. The Uhlmans were disappointed that Mr. Olliger was not pre* sent. He was attending a con vention N.A.B. (National Asso ciation Broadcasters) at KWGN Denver, formerly of wGN Chi cago for many years, Mrs. Ol liger waS much surprised at this area how it has progressed. Summerset Mall wasn't paved at the last time she was here, three and a half years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sauter of Sussex had a nice treat. Their son, Gerald, and his wife, Patti, took them out for dinner Sun day celebrating Gerald's birth day. Quite a switch. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fair- child, 1103 N. Summersfct Mall, recently returned from a five week trip to Florida. They started on the East Coast at Jacksonville, then St. Augus tine, Cape Kennedy, stopped four days at Pompano Beach at Mrs. Fairchild's cousin. Then down to the Keys to Mar athon back to the Tamiami Trail and across the Everglades to the East Coast. They stayed at Sarasota a few days, then to Hainesville where they stayed ten days at Lake Eva, visited Cypress Gardens and Bok Sing ing Towers and Orlando, then to Clearwater, Tampa Bush Gardens and up to Silver Springs. Returned home April 5 and were glad to see Whis pering Oakd.
