Now, I must clarify my in tention, t' be fair t' all, an' not give the impression that I don't condone the ventures, o' women, inter the many oppor tunities which our society pre sents, these days. I ain't referrin' t' the un encumbered numbers o' women, a sittin' about, jist awaitin' fer time t' go by. Seems ter me, that nature intended that the females wuz meant t' care fer the young, until they're able t' fend fer themselves. This brings the average woman t' the age o' the forties, and then she finds herself wi'out all the family t' worry about. I agree that time hangs heavily on the shoulders, and many git t' feelin' that their youth wuz spent wi' the menial tasks, in a bringin' up the family. I don't blame 'em fer wantin't' git interested in things that keep the mind active an' alert. The thing I worry about, is that many young women will be influenced by the unwise things they hear an» read, an' will try t* live up t' the image set by these women who* re makin' sich a thing o' their revolution. A wise woman will take sich an active interest in the young sters, an' the things which in volve 'em, these days, that it cain't help a rubbin' off on 'em, a keepin' their outlook young, an* their minds keyed t' the times. Then when the young folks 're established, in the pursuits o' their own lives, "Mom," kin be free t' do like wise, as long as she don't fer- get the importance 0* realizin' that her man is in the same boat, an' a hangin' on t' his job, in spite & his yearnin' t' go fishing*, 'er play golf, 'er jist be lazy, fer a change. Women seem t' be fer ever conscious o* their own feelin's, fergettin' that a man, jist like a woman, may need understandin' an' comfortin'. - Now, fer the woman, who de cides she wants a career, more power to her. At least it would help t' reduce the birth rate, if more women 'd decide t' be interested in professional, political, an' any other careers they may like. Perhaps it'd be good f get the women's point o' view, in managin' govern mental affairs, to a greater ex tent. But, t' try an' do a good job o' raisin* a family, a givin' the attention that is needed, an' carryin' on a career, too, ain't practical, 'r just. One job, done well, is most important, an' Pd hate t' see the family neglect ed, in order f satisfy the whims o' women. Grandma Radtke i.a.m. The state V*F.
