Church Tells Lesson-Sermon The self-destroying effects of moral weakness and the re generating effects of spiritual thinking are illustrated in the Lesson-Sermon on "Probation After Death" to be read in McHenry Christian Science church Sunday, April 26. One of the Bible citations is from Romans' "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." The account in Luke of the multitutde that gather ed to hear Jesus preach and to be healed of diseases and "un clean spirits" alsowillberead. Citations from Science and Health with Key to the Scrip tures by Mary Baker Eddy in clude the following: "Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all il lusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense The^public is welcome to at tend services beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Christian Science so ciety, Lincoln road and East wood lane. Tornado Film Will Be Shown At City Church On April 29, at 7 p.m., dur- ing the regular Wednesday night family life discussion at Zion Lutheran church, the film "Tornado" will be shown. This movie is furnished by the Civ il Defense department and should be of interest to all as the tornado seasonarrives. The public is invited to attend and le*rn how lives may be saved. Every Wednesday Zion has an evening of Christian fellowship at the church, beginning at 6:45 p.m. with a singing session for the whole family. At 7 p.m. there is a fam ily life discussion period, dur ing which members learn, through the sharing of ideas and experiences, how they may ap ply God's word to their daily lives. » The group divides at 7:30 p.m. into several Bible study classes for adults and children. B/bfe Study Group To Start Sunday, April 26 Zion Lutheran church will have a new Bible study group for high school juniors and sen iors, beginning Sunday, April 26. This class, led by Roland Herrmann, will be held at the parsonage, 3913 W. Grand ave nue, McHenry, each Sunday at 9 a.m. The first study guide to be used, entitled "The People of God at Work," is based on the Book of Acts. Church leaders say the work of God's people in the world today is the same work car ried out by the Apostles and the early Christians. They con tinue, "It is the task of every Christian to bring the Gospel of our Savior to all men. TOat today's young people may be led to meet this exciting chal lenge is the aim of the Bible study class." DIAl-A-DEVOTION PHONE Hear God's Word Wherever You Are. Sunday Masses: 10:00 a.m. Confessions: First Sunday of each month, before Mass Father John Strzalka Pastor youths by the V drmtprfid In a nation as big as ours there iSj always a tendency to overlook the individual and to think only of groups. Youth gets the brunt of this generalizing. Many of our'boys and girls are delinquent. But some folks would have us believe that every child is a potential delinquent. Time we realized that children aren't chicks! They don't grow up by the drawerful to have the same characteristics and habits. Children respond to love, parental ex ample, religious guidance. They possess an ever-increasing aptitude for responsibility, trust, and faith. Most of our boys and girls will grow up to assume their rightful place in an orderly, Chris tian society. Some will populate our jails. But the destiny of the individual youth is not a matter of chance and percentage . . . It is determined primarily by the consci entiousness of loving parents, and by the per sistency with which his natural religious inter ests are cultivated.
