Rev. Raymond White was the offici­ ating clergyman. Special music included "I Have Dreamed" and "Lord's Prayer". -- Miss Larson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold A. Lar­ son, 3907 W. Oak avenue, ?nd her bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Walter J. Urben, 1219 Wellesley road, Madison, Wis. The charming bride wore an ivory colored gown of baby tis­ sue faille, fashioned with em­ pire waist, high neck and long bishop sleeves. The bodice of the gown was Venice lace, which also trimmed the sleeves and bell skirt. Her mantilla veil was edged in matching Venice lace. Attending her sister as maid of honor was Karen Larson of McHenry. Bridesmaids were Eileen Wolf, Crystal Lake; Jan­ ice Schaafsma, South Holland, and Mrs. William Funk of Mc­ Henry. Their long gowns were made of aqua chiffon, trimmed in ivory satin, with empire waists encircled with ivory sat- 'Pi MARY RHOADES ENGAGED -- Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Mary Rhoades to Michael Robert Wagner. Miss Rhoades is the daughter of Mrs. Joseph C. Rhoades of 420 Tia Juana drive, Lakemoor, and the late Mr. Rhoades. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Wagner of 542 W. Rand road, Lakemoor. A June wedding is planned. Young County Adults Adopt Name "Swingles" The Young Adults Group of McHenry county met recently and decided on a name change. The group will now be known as the "Swingles". It was hop­ ed this would be more descrip­ tive and appealing to the cross- section of young ^dults inter­ ested. j Additional business discus­ sed included two conferences. Similar groups in Illinois had a winter rally at the Univer­ sity of Illinois, Jan. 29-31. Nine states are participating in a regional conference in Petersburg, March 19-21. It is expected that several local members will attend the March conference. The next meetings will be Feb. 4 and 16. Both will be at 3811 Dean St., road, Wood­ stock. at 8 p.m. Definite plans will be made at these for pro­ grams , service projects and so­ cial events for the coming year. Any single, young adult aged 18- 30 is welcome to attend. Ad­ ditional information may be ob­ tained by writing to Cooperative Extension Service, P.O. Mrs. Larson chose a light aqua sleeveless dress with silver trim on mandarin collar and a short long sleeved jacket and matching accessories. The groom's mother was attired in a long sleeved dress of cara­ mel and white with matching long, sleeveless coat. , Immediately following the ceremony 125 friends and rel­ atives gathered at a reception at the McHenry Country club. The bride's roommate, Lindy Mattsen, circulated the guest book. After a honeymoon at Colom­ bia Island of San Andres, the young couple will live at 1509 Trailsway, Apt. 7, Madison, Wis. The bride received her B.S. degree in Education in 1969 at Illinois State university. The groom graduated from the Un­ iversity of Wisconsin in Madi­ son in 1969 and will be return­ ing there in February. The new Mrs. Urben was en-" tertained at two miscellaneous showers, one in Crystal Lake given by her aunt, Mrs. Ernest Larson, and the other in Mc­ Henry hosted by the attendants. The groom's aunt, Mrs. Jean Peterson, -gave a linen shower in Madison. The rehearsal dinner was given Friday evening at Mar- tinetti's by the groom's par­ ents, Dr. and Mrs. Walter Ur­ ben. Spirit Of Season To Be Evident At Sweetheart Swing /"The spirit of the Valentine season will be evident Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Johnsburg Com­ munity club hall, scene of the Sweetheart Swing. The sup­ per, sponsored ,-by the Women's Society of the church, will be held Friday, Feb. 5, with serving from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Young dancers and the Jack Myer folk singing group will be featured as entertainment. Smith of Denver, Colo., was baptized Stefanie Holly by Rev. Eugene Baumhofer at St. Mary's church, Sunday. Sponsors were Tom Petrecus of Wheaton and Mrs. James Hester of Livonia, Mich. The baby's paternal grandmother, Mrs. Walter Smith, acted as proxy for Mrs. Hester who was unable to come because of the snow storm. David Cain of 'McHenry, president of the board of Grove School for Handicapped Chil­ dren, Lake Forest, announced that the annual Christmas ap­ peal for the building fund had surpassed all previous years with a total giving of $7,500. ITEM: In August, 1970, the in­ dex of consumer prices had in­ creased 36 per cent over the 1957- 59 level. Overall medical costs had increased almost twice that much, 66.8 per cent. The supersition of spilling salt likely came from Da Vinci's painting of the Last Supper, which shows Judas as having upset the salt container on the table. Will Sponsor Beauty Pageant The Woman's club of Wonder Lake said this week that it will be sponsoring the 1971- 1972 Miss Wonder Lake Beauty pageant since the Wonder Lake Volunteer Fire department has relinquished its role as spon­ sor. Requirements necessary for a young girl to be eligible are that she is between 17 and 21 years of age, and a resi­ dent of Wonder Lake for at least one year. Mrs. J. Szurek, chairman of Public Affairs and Legislation of the Woman's club of Wonder Lake, is chairman of the beauty pageant. Her committee mem­ bers are Mrs. R. Parker, Mrs. R. DeWerdt, Mrs. C.
