Thompson, daughter of George Thompson of McHenry and the late Helen Thompson, and Capt. Glenn A. Blakley. USMCR, son of Mrs. Daisy Blakley of Stillwater,' Okla. and the late Leroy Blakley, will wed in June at St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry, in a double wedding ceremony. The bride-elect graduated from Lowell-Reeseville high school, Wis., and also as a medical technologist from Sherman hospital, Elgin. She attended Fullerton Junior college, Fullerton, Calif. Miss Thompson is presently employed as a chemical research technologist for a Santa Ana, Calif., firm. The groom-elect is a graduate of Stillwater senior high school and from Oklahoma State university, obtaining a B.S. degree in Mathematics. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Marine corps and received naval aviation wings on completion of flight school. He has completed overseas duty, flying helicopters in Vietnam. On return to the states, he was stationed in Santa Ana as flight instructor and after terminating his obligation in the service, he will be attending a post graduate school for study as systems analyst. Lakeland Park Women Plan Spring Luncheon The Lakeland Park Women's club will hold its regular monthy meeting on Thursday, April 1. at 12:30 p.m., at the Lakeland Park Community house, 1717 North Sunset drive. Mrs Frances Kostka and Mrs. Alma Siegmund will be the hostesses for the April meeting. Mrs. Ruth Roach reports that her committees have everything in readiness for the annual spring luncheon and card party to be held Wed nesday, April 14, at St. Patrick's church hall, 3500 W. Washington street. Men are most cordially invited to at tend. not only for the luncheon but also to spend an enjoyable afternoon playing their favorite card games. Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church was the setting for a lovely wedding ceremony Saturday, March 27, uniting in marriage Miss Debra Lynn Wallace and Mr. James H. Mack. Pastor Roger Schneider and Father Bartel officiated at the 2 o'clock nuptial rite for which musical selections included "Hawaiian Wedding Song", the love theme from "Romeo and Juliet" and "Ave Maria", Miss Wallace is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Wallace of 3403 W. Skyway drive, McHenry, and Mr. Mack is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mack of Rt. 4, An- tioch. The radiant bride ap proached the altar wearing a long, white organza over satin dress with fine pearl trim in Venice lace, of Victorian design. The gown was styled with high neckline and baby doll sleeves with built-in train. Fine lace edged the neckline, sleeves, cuffs, hem and train. Miss Wallace's headpiece was of Venice lace with petals in pearls attached to a crystal, semi-crown. Three tiers of veiling topped a three-yard long veil. She carried white p h a l a e n o p s i s o r c h i d s , sweetheart roses and stephanotis with going-away corsage in the center. Her something old was a necklace, the something new, a handmade silver wedding bell handkerchief, the something borrowed, a ring bearer's pillow, and for something blue, a garter. Acting as her maid of honor was Nancy Wallace of McHenry and bridesmaids were Chris Wetteland, Georgine Widen and Alice Sullivan of McHenry and Susan Batten of Algonquin. The attendants were attired identically in chiffon jump suits with lace trim. The Venice lace formed a weskit on' the bodice and was used on the cuffs of the long, puffed sleeves. Their headpieces were matching bows with a four-tier bouffant veil. Miss Wallace was in lavender chiffon with orchid lace trim, while the other at tendants were in orchid suits with lavender trim. They carried purple iris and yellow roses in colonial nosegays, with yellow and purple streamers. Each young lady wore a pearl pendant, a gift of the bride. Jerry Koberg of Schiller Park served the bridegroom as best man, and he was also attended by Cliff Koberg of Woodstock, James Lafontaine of Palatine, Ray Simon and Bill Korner of McHenry. Jeff and Joey Mack were ushers. Craig Schaedel of McHenry was the stately ring bearer. Mrs. Wallace wore to the church a gold dress with (byLyda Radisch) There was an attendance of over 160 at the spring smorgasbord of the McHenry Citizens club. The tables were very colorful with flower- bedecked nut cups and the speaker's table had a very lovely floral centerpiece. The food was superb. Pastor Chappell of the First Baptist church of McHenry, ana Mrs. Cappeil, ana Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cooper were among the honored guests. Pastor Chappell gave the blessing and the benediction. Mr. Cooper spoke briefly, bringing greetings from the school boar<), and. Past Presidents Welker and Baker also spoke. City Clerk Earl Walsh was on hand with a story. v The program for the evening was a very special one by the McHenry Choral club, depic ting the historical saga " of McHenry. Mips Adele Froehlich, director of the group, explained the program and introduced the selections, which will be a part of the Choral club presentation May 1 and 2 at the McHenry West campus auditorium. Solo matching print coat, and to the reception, a long pink jump suit and a corsage of white orchids. Mrs. Mack was attired in a yellow, three-piece skirt and pants suit and matching ac cessories. A reception for 250 guests followed at the Johnsburg Community club hall. Later, the newlyweds left on a trip to North Dakota and Canada, after which they will make their home at 3603 W. Waukegan road, McHenry. The new Mrs. Mack graduated from McHenry high school in 1968 and attended Moser secretarial school. She is employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Leslie Krieger. The bridegroom is a 1966 graduate of M.C.H.S. and will be at tending McHenry County college in June. He is manager of the Antioch A&P store. Family, Friends Honor Mrs. Cole On 90th Birthday Members of her family and friends of Mrs. Edith Cole helped her to celebrate her ninetieth birthday Saturday night, March 27, at a dinner party held at the home of her son, George, and his wife, Marian. Mrs. Cole is an active member of the McHenry Woman's club. Chamber Music Concert At College On Sunday A chamber music program on April 4 at McHenry County college will bring together four outstanding young performers from the Chicago area. In cluded in this concert will be the Brahms Clarinet Trio, Op. 114, the Milh&ud Trio for clarinet, violin and piano, and the Mendelssohn Trio in D minor for violin, 'cello and piano. James Ramey, clarinet, is an artist student at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He appears frequently in recitals and is especially active in introducing avant garde music at concerts. RIVER ROAD McHENRY numbers were "Danny Boy" by Orville Freund; "In TTie Still Of The Night" by the club* presidents, Jacquelyn Schau; "Yours Is My Heart Alone" by Carolyn Ritthaler; a bar bershop group composed of Norbert Mauch, Bill Reinwall, Ray Jensen, Lee Hiller, Don and Jofen Johnson, Lee Cooney and Tim Wheelock, who sang "Dear Old Girl"; and "You'll Neva* Walk Alone", sung by John Marco. The accompanists were Mary Ann Sharp, Irma Blomgren and Marji Ruth. After the chorus sang "The Soldier's Chorus" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic", the finale was "The Impossible Drean" by the entire ensemble, after which there was a stan ding ovation for the McHenry Choral club. It was a very fine program and enjoyed by all, and further enjoyment is in store if you attend their program May 1 or 2 as there are many more selections in their complete presentation. President Kenneth Fair- child conducted the brief business session, receiving reports from all committee chairmen. There will be a bus trip to the Chicago L,oop Wednesday, April 7, a bus leaving the McHenry State bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. if interested in making this trip, please get your reservations in at once to Mrs. Louise Giel as there is no meeting before this trip. Attention men, the first meeting of the men's chorus will be Wednesday, March 31, at 7 p.m., at Landmark school. Be sure to attend if you are interested in belonging to this singing group. Frank Giel also reported that the Senior Citzens club bowlers number ninety- five, and by next season he hopes to have at least 120. The next meeting is April 12, at which time the program will be given by Bill Wilson - pic tures on local scenes and flowers.
