Land owners with suitable soil for black walnut trees who would like to have some of these trees should make their wishes known to the Scout Service center in Rock- ford. Boy Scouts, under the supervision of local foresters, will do the planting. "The project has a dual purpose," said Gronner. "It helps relieve the critical shortage of hard wood trees but even more important for us, it provides a realistic and practical demonstration of good con servation practice for the hundreds of Boy Scouts who will be involved. Residents in the Blackhawk Area council are urged to get their requests for these trees in 67,903 Vehicles Registered In County For '70 Secretary of State, John W. Lewis, announced recently that motor vehicle registration in Illinois for 1970 showed an increase of 216,774 over 1969, for an all-time high of 5,712,294. For the same period, revenue from license fees rose $37,330,941.79 for a total of $22,111,965.92. The increase reflects the effect of higher passenger car fees enacted by the 1969 session of the General ^Assembly which were effective with 1970 registrations. Registration increases were noted in all categories except dealers, where the 6,127 registered was a decrease of 55 from 1969. » Motor vehicle units registered for McHenry county in 1970 were as follows: 53,282 passenger cars; 53 taxi and livery ambulances; 8,720 trucks and buses; 4,108 trailer and semi-trailers; 1,656 motorcycle bikes and 84 dealer and in-transit units for a total of 67,903 units. These units amounted to license fees for the county of $2,517,630.63. The bulk of the world's supply of marbles is made in West Virginia in one of 5 plants, producing some 350 million units yearly. as soon as possible. The further stated that all minimum number of trees to be properties will be checked out planted on a given piece of by members of the Illinois State property will be 250. Gronner Forestry division.
