Easter Egg Hunt Attracts 200 Youngsters The annual Blaster egg hunt, sponsored by the Cullom-Knoll association on Saturday April 10, was a huge success. The weather was beautiful as an estimated 200 youngsters took part in the event. First, second and third prizes were awarded to three age groups. From the tiny to five year olds, the six to nine year olds and the ten to twelve year olds. The prizes for first to third place were four dollars, three dollars and two dollars. Fifty-five dozen colored hard boiled eggs were donated, and three people donated cash toward the prize money. Candy was passed to all of the youngsters, the day was fun for all, and everyone left for home tired but happy. Lorraine Blom, chairman of the event, is grateful to all who helpped her make this event a success. VILLAGE BOARD The next meeting of the village board will be held Wednesday April 21 at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. I am sorry to say that the attendance was very poor at the last meeting. How many residents know who has charge of the beach? Do you know that a park district is in the planning? I will bring you the news as it happens, but wouldn't you like to learn it all first hand? SPRING PICK-UP The spring pick-up day will be on Saturday, June 12. This is the date many have been waiting for. Please tie < all branches, wood or similar items. If they are not tied they might not be picked up. All garbage and leaves must be bagged. Please do not set anything out that two men can not handle. ~ LADIES OF THE LAKE Hats, hats and more hats, that was the theme of the last meeting of The Ladies of the Lake. Harriet McNamara's hat was judged the prettiest, Mrs. Gutt's, the most original; and "Petey" Schmidt's the fun niest, a rooster no less. Everyone had a wonderful time, as they always do at these meetings. Any woman in the village is welcome. It is a good Electrically heated homes are popping up everywhere. The first outing will be June 7 at Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates battle it out. Then on August 14 it's on to Sox Park to see the White Sox play. VILLAGE CLERK Effective in June, the village clerk will have hours on Tuesday and Thursday only. The hours on these two days will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. OZARK TRIP Mr. and Mrs. WP. Schmidt of Fountain Lane had the wonderful opportunity to take a trip through the Ozarks. The boys certainly deserve a vote of thanks. They are Steve Markovich, Larry Koeper and Michael Myake. Thank you boys for putting out the fire. The Ladies of the Lake have donated money toward the purchase of new street signs. What ever happened to the Cullom Knoll Association? I don't know because I've heard nothing from them. Spring is here, so motorists take care, watch for little ones on the roads. Some of the bike riding youngsters do deliberately test the drivers. KIWANIS NEWS WONDER LAKE CLUB Guests speaker at the April 12 meeting was Manasseh 'Gasana, an exchange student from Uganda. Manasseh is living with the A1 Benoy family while attending McHenry high school. His talk led to considerable discussion about his country and its development. They are primarily fanners, with each family raising its own food, and cotton, coffee and tea as the cash crops. Under government super vision, they also mine copper, and some gold Uganda is in the interior of Africa, without a sea coast of its own, with population of about 9% million. Willingness without action reminds us of clouds without rain-lots of potential, but, no results. CC.E.Co. trkTirn o $64 QUESTION: Who keeps prices down? S p u i y t u i \ ^ > $ 6 4 A N S W E R .
