PAGE 14-PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1971 Clifford Wardle Lay Evangelism Church Director Clifford Wardle. who has served for two years as director of Christian Education for the First Baptist church of McHenry, has resigned that position to accept the task of directing the evangelistic outreach work of the rapid growing McHenry Baptist church. Under Mr. Wardle's past leadership the church adopted a new organizational structure for Christian Education and new curriculum materials were put into use in the church's Sunday School. The church has received state wide recognition in evangelism, training and growth during the years of his service. Following the recent Lay Institute for Evangelism for McHenry County, which was directed by Mr. Wardle and held at the First Baptist church of McHenry. the young layman dedicated his future efforts more completely to outreach and evangelism. He is planning another Lay Institute during this year along with other special emphases in the area of evangelism for the McHenry church and others of the county. "We are indeed fortunate to have such a young man working with us at First Baptist church ", praised the Rev. Virgle Chappell, pastoi^of the church. "I believe Mr. Wardle will be of even greater value to our community in this newly designated area of respon sibility". Mr. Wardle's family includes his wife, Janice, and three children, Cara, David and William. Fred Feldman, an attorney, will be the speaker at the May meeting. He will discuss wills and the procedures for donating one's body to a medical school. Tell Church Sermon' For Area Church "Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me." These words from Psalms are from the Bible Lesson- Sermon on "Everlasting Punishment" to be heard at McHenry Christian Science services Sunday. "The likeness of God we lose sight of through sin, which beclouds the spiritual sense of Truth; and we realize this likeness only when we subdue sin and prove man's heritage, the liberty of the sons of God," a citation to be read from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy states. Christian Science society invites the public to attend. The service is held at Lincoln road and Eastwood lane and begins at 10:30a.m. Proclamation The first of May will be celebrated throughout America as Law Day U.S.A. It has been set aside by Joint Resolution of Congress and by Presidential proclamation to remind every American that our freedom and our safety do depend upon adherence to the rule of law. The • many rights and freedoms which Americans accept as their birthright are made possible only by obedience to the laws established by our elected representatives. Solutions of grievances, no matter how just, cannot be solved by wanton rioting, destruction of public property and the bombings of courts and institutions of higher learning. On the occasion of this nation's observance on May 1st of the fourteenth annual celebration of Law Day U.S.A., let each of us seek an increased understanding of, and respect for, the rule of law. For it is law which unites and governs a free people. Now, therefore, I, Donald P. Doherty, mayor of the City of McHenry, do hereby proclaim Saturday, May 1, 1971, as Law Day, U.S.A. in the City of McHenry, and call upon all citizens, organizations, churches, schools and lay groups to recognize this special day through appropriate programs. Dated at the city of McHenry, this sixth day of April, 1971. DONALD P. DOHERTY, Mayor It seems to be physically impossible to laugh and be angry at the same time. And it is much more healthful to smile. The so-called Seven Seas composed of North and South Atlantic, North and South Pacific, Indian, Arctic, and Antarctic. Thursday before First Friday, 4-5:30 P.M. With these young pups, that worried look isn't real. You might call it a physiological illusion. The whole problem is that their heads haven't grown enough to fill out the wrinkles in their brows. But with people a worried look is usually real. It reflects the deep concerns that trouble our world and lives. Yet worry isn't going to improve the world. Its only real value is that it encourages us to seek solutions where they can be found. The best thing to replace worry with is FAITH. Through the centuries man has found hope and courage in the truths of religion. God never meant us to solve our problems alone. Perhaps our most perplexing problem today is that too many people have been trying to do |ust that! Nativity Lutheran Church 3506 E. Wonder Lake Rd.
