LEONARD STUDIO PHOTO Warrior Power Clubs North Chicago, 10-8, 5-4 by Bill Blankenhorn The McHenry baseball team found the shores of Lake Michigan to their liking last Saturday as they swept a doubleheader from North Chicago 10-8 and 5-4. The games saw something quite unusual in high school baseball as each team came up with a home run in each contest. Fortunately for the Warriors, both of their's were grand slam shots to lift the orange and black to victory. The opening game was a tight affair through three innings with the score knotted at 1-1. But in the top of the fourth, McHenry exploded for eight runs on four base hits, four walks and an error. The big blow was provided by center fielder Gary Hosier as he lashed a grand slam homer as the Warriors sent 11 men to bat in the inning. Bob Kuechel picked up the win but needed relief help from Bob Wickenkamp in the bottom of the seventh after North Chicago had closed the gap to 10-8 and had a runner on second base. Wickenkamp walked the first man he faced to put the tying run on base but got the next batter to pop-up to the second baseman to end the game. Dinquel had a solo homer for the Warhawks. The second game also featured the "big fourth" in ning for the Warriors as they scored four runs as winning pitcher Greg Freund smashed a grand slam home run to give his team a 5-2 lead at that point. Freund also drove in the first Warrior run with a single in the second inning to give him five RBI's for the game. Freund scattered seven hits while striking out nine Warhawks as he went the distance for the victory. McHenry had five extra base hits in the doubleheader and also stole 10 bases, seven in the second game. Dinquel hit another home run for the losing Warhawks and also had a triple in the second game to give him three extra base hits in a losing cause. Smaller towns and cities may question the conditions, but with the pace, tensions, demonstrations and apathy found everywhere in today's world, this is a film to be reckoned with--but entire ly unnecessary for entertain ment. The story, as such, begins with Patsy (Marcia Rodd) in pursuit of Alfred (Elliott Gould) until he marries her. Then on their wedding night she is shot dead. Alfred shows no emotion whatsoever and under the pro tection of her rather odd family is perfectly happy to just let things happen to him. His show of emotions in the end is his destruction. "Little Murders" is concern ed mostly with the happenings inside theNewquist apartment-- a tour through the minds and emotions of the characters. And, at this point, the not-so- w e l l - k n o w n c a s t s h o u l d b e praised for a good performance in this film rated "R" with those under 17 requiring parent or guardian. STRANGE FORMS IN THE DEAD SEA ... Although these may look like small mushroom clouds, they are trunks of dead trees which have been covered with salt particles from the very salty Dead Sea. The area around the Dead Sea, which is mostly barren land, abounds in potassium and phosphates which are used in fertilizers and Israel has begun exploit ing the area for these re sources. j?flio£To.i0g9; 9f /\ LL CLAfcl W£T$ - weiie made_ caaa?!? 1 Weisenburger I 653-3792 i ROYAL WELCOME Joan Stull I 385-5418 | Ann Zeller I 385-0559 I Freshmen Trackmen Trounce Barrington by Bill Blankenhorn The McHenry freshman track team won a convincing dual meet against Barrington by a score of 82-44 as they took a total of ten first places.
