An announcement is made in this week's display columns by Overton and Cowan local automobile dealers of the addition of the Oakland-Pontiac line of cars to their Buick line. Overton and Cowan have been in business in McHenry for about twenty-three years, starting here in 1907 with a livery and doing taxi work. For practically twenty-one years this firm has dealt in new and used cars automobiles and sold the livery business in 1918. Bolger's Drug Store-is- making an unusual offer Tthls week. With each purchase of 50 cents or over will be given two gold fish in an aquarium with an aquarium plant. The home of Mrs. Kane at Shalimar has been rented to Mr. Lilley, buyer for the Boston store. »Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Cornish of Spring Grove returned home from, a seven months stay in Florida. Mr. Emil Feffer, 67 years old, died at his home at Barreville, April 28, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Albert Purvey is im­ proving nicely from her goiter operation and was able to leave the hospital for home of her sister in Woodstock. The members of the cast in the play "Lighthouse Nan" and their director, Charles F. Pich, were entertained at a delicious chicken dinner by the Foresters, sponsors of the play. A spring wedding of interest to many in this vicinity was solemnized at the Queen of Angels church in Chicago April 25 when Miss Rose Miller of Johnsburg was united in marriage to Mr. George Reinmueller of Chicago. Lawrence Wagner, who has, been assisting in the Steffan Jewelry store in West McHenry, has returned to his former position with the Elgin Watch company. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Alletag and daughter arrived last Thursday from Providence, R.I., and will make their home in Ringwood. Mr. Alletag has resumed work at the Ringwood Chemical plant, where he was employed* before entering service a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fleming returned home from St. Joseph's hospital, Elgin, following an auto accident which took place near Elgin. Mr. Fleming was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was unconscious for many hours. He suffered shock, cuts and bruises and cracked ribs. Mr. and Mrs. Frank May, former McHenry residents have purchased a thirty acre place with 760 feet frontage on Lake Pohegama at Chetek, Wis. At some future date they expect to build cabihs on their property. The first outdoor en­ campment of the BOy Scouts of Troop 162 of Lilymoor took place Saturday night on the shore of Lily Lake. Parker officiated at the service. The class of 1941 of the McHenry high school held a reunion at the Legion home April 29, highlighted by dinner and a dance. Fifty-six classmates and teachers en­ joyed a pleasant evening of reminiscing. Robert J. Stein, M.D. will speak at the semi-annual meeting of the Woman's auxiliary to McHenry hospital May 9 at the hospital. He will speak on "Modern Concepts Of Cancer". Dr. Stein, in addition to being head pathologist of the hospital, is head pathologist of Abbott Laboratories and also medical specialist in cancer research. The first girl baby born at McHenry hospital was the daughter of Mr. ahd Mrs. Richard Hignight, Lillian street. She has been named Elizabeth Ann. St. John's church in Twin Lakes, Wis., will have another modern and old time dance May 8 Harold Phannenstill, formerly of McHenry, will call the square dances. Mother's Day guests of Mrs. Elvina Latimer were Mrs. Esther Latimer and Miss Adeline Lindberg, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Latimer, Sr., Highland Park, daugher, Rhonda Latimer of DeKalb; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Latimer, Ji\ Deerfield; her sister, Mrs. Helen Monser, Eau Claire, Wis. Mrs. Elvina Latimer and Mrs. Jean Driscoll were in Belvidere Thursday evening where the former officiated a? district deputy at a meeting oi St. James Court of the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Fred Bienapfl spent the past week with her sister, Mrs. Alma Riggs, in Salem, Wis., while her husband visited relatives in Mankato and Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Robert Conway spent a recent day in Elgin where she was a dinner guest in the Morris Powell home and later attended a shower for a niece, Miss Patrice Whalen, whose wedding will take place on May 29. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stober of Downers Grove spent Sunday in the Albert Vales home. Mrs. James McAndrews and son, Tony, motored to Duhuque, Iowa, to pick up her son, Patrick, who had com­ pleted his second year at Loras college. She was accompanied by Mrs. Earl McAndrews who visited her cousin, Sister Wilfred Doyle, at The Villa. Mrs. Gertrude Pigeon and Mrs. Laura Brennan of Chicago spent Thursday with their sister, Mrs. Alice Brooks. Mrs. Mabel Knowles was a guest in the Michael Hoban home in Park Ridge and the Martin Knowles home in River Forest a few days last week. Visitors in the Albert Purvey home recently were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Purvey of Win- netka and Mrs. John Purvey :nd son, Alan, of Crystal Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lafontaine and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Wirfs and daughters and Mrs. Emma King were Sunday visitors in the Everett Klinker home in Morris. Mrs. Ellen Wende has returned from a vacation in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Patricia Gallery, in Evanston, and while there accompanied her and her daughter to Anaheim, Calif., making the trip on a 747. Mahin said last week.
