PLAINDEALER PHOTO Summer Events Set For Senior Citizen Members One Hundred and eighty-six persons enjoyed a most delicious smorgasbord dinner at the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting Mav 24, followed by a very lovew style show. Several members\of the club were included as the models. The Friday card games will be recessing until fall. Mary Wood will give any information desired on the card game sessions, and will also advise when the card games will resume. Frank Giel reported that over fifty have been bowling each Tuesday in the summer session, but there is still room for a few more bowlers. Bowling is at 1 p.m. each Tuesday. George Binder reported that the bus trip to Arlington Park race track will be Wednesday, June 9. The bus will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 12:30 p.m. sharp. Everyone is reminded tb bring his Medicare card and Senior Citizens club card. These cards will entitle one to a reduced admittance charge. Those who have not signed up for this trip, and want to go, be sure to contact Louise Giel at once as reservations are very, very limited. The bus trip to New Glarus, Wis., Wednesday, June 23, is filled The bus will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 7 a m. sharp--with a stop over at Janesville, Wis., for coffee and rolls. Luncheon will be roast beef, and there will be a tour of "The House On the Rock" and "Little Norway", and of course, there will be a stop on the trip home for a snack. The bus is scheduled to be back in McHenry at 7 p.m. The club's kitchen band is working hard on a new repertoire, and already have many scheduled performances at nursing homes, old people's homes, senior citizen groups, and church groups. The band practices eVery Wednesday evening at 6:45 at Landmark school; however, band practice the day of the bus trip to New Glarus, Wisconsin has been postponed until Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at Landmark school. On June 14, following the business session, the program will be "Ecology and Pollution" by president of the McHenry County Defenders, Dr. Brian C. TUNA SHORT CUPS 1 can (10% ounces) con densed cream of mushroom soup xk cup milk 1 can (7 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked 1 cup cooked peas 1 tablespoon chopped pimiento 4 slices bread, crusts removed Butter Onion salt Blend soup and milk; add tuna, peas, and pimiento. Heat, stir often. Meanwhile, butter bread slices; press bread slices butter-side down into muffin tin or custard cups. Sprinkle lightly with onion salt. Pat is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pitzen of 3904 W. Grove. A sophomore at Western, she is majoring in special education. Her other activities at Western include work as a receptionist in Higgins hall. Garage Sale Benefit For Children's Home The Woodstock Children's home auxiliary announces its annual event to earn money for the home. It will be a garage sale to be held Aug. 19,20, 21 at the McHenry county fairgrounds in Woodstock. The auxiliary would appreciate any donations of clothing, furniture and miscellaneous. They have organized a pick-up service. Anyone who needs this service should call Cynthia (Bruce J. Livermore). Storage areas are needed for garage sale items in Wood stock, Crystal Lake and McHenry. If anyone has a barn or garage they are not using and would let them use it for storage please, contact Sue McElya at 459-8287.
