Here & There In BUSINESS Better Service Is Provided By Phone Equipment Just as the telephone has developed from the old crank model our parents or grand parents used to have, the telephone equipment behind- the-scenes is progressing too, to provide better, more efficient service. Some of this progress in telephone equipment has just come to the Woodstock service center, which serves Wood stock, McHenry, Crystal Lake, Harvard, Marengo and Union. In place of their old equipment, they've gained the newest development in test consoles and service center arrangements. The service center performs key operations in repair ser vice. Repair clerks answer calls from customers reporting trouble, and testmen test lines for trouble, dispatch repairmen to the troubled locations, and test out lines after a repair or installation job is completed. Last Sunday I came out to look at my lot and found that quiet little John street has become quite hazardous. First, as I turned to go east on John street off Green, a car came out of the high school parking lot and almost hit me. As I proceeded east there is a blind spot on Jo)in street caused by a small hill. As I went over the hill, a red golf cart pulled out of a gravel driveway and almost caused a collision. "After two near misses I approached the driveway to the Country club itself where two golfers in a gas cart happily crossed in front of me with open beer in their hands. What's going on here and why doesn't the city do something about it? "Sincerely, "Clyde Bassett" Master Degree To G.R. Hauser Robert P. Hauser, son of George R. Hauser, 825 N.
