Daughters "Put On A Happy Face" was the theme chosen by Barbara Jo Bradley, senior princess of Bethel 98, International Order of Job's Daughters, as she advanced to honored queen on this special evening. It is tradition that once each term, the girl who will soon be filling the position of honored queen take a step forward. She makes all plans, and invites other junior and senior princesses from surrounding Bethels to fill the appointed stations. Advancing with Barb for the evening from Bethel 98 were Cindy Mangold as senior princess, Sue Gerstad as junior princess and Terri Benson as guide. The appointed stations were held by girls from Palatine, Lake Zurich, Rock- ford, Laves Park, Evergreen Coming Events Park, Wheaton and McHenry. At the opening of the meeting all the Bethel 98 girls sang and presented Barb with a "Happv Face" gift as a momento of her Advance Night. Sharing the East with Barb for this special meeting were Mrs. Anthony Vicek of Ingleside and Mrs. Lloyd Nelson of Woodstock, both past Bethel guardians. Barb selected these as her guests of honor, and explained that their helpful guidance and en couragement had advanced through her various positions in Bethel and drill team. Not only did everyone "Put On A Happy Face" for the success of this night and to make all out-of-town guests feel welcome, but were all pleased to see Uncle Jim out of the hospital. Uncle Jim and Aunt Margaret really were proud to see their daughter, Barb, hnadle everything so expertly. To add to the festivities, Bethel Guardian Aunt Margo Schaedel celebrated her bir thday. Each - girl present deposited thirty-three pennies in the birthday bank on her behalf. Everyone wished her well by singing while her daughter, Debbie, presented her with a lovely decorated cake. Following the meeting, tasty refreshments were served in the gaily decorated reception room. Although conventional stockings and the much discussed panty hose appear to dominate the hosiery market, keep in mind that no one hosiery item is designed as the perfect one for every in dividual. Susan Ross, McHenry county assistant Extension adviser, points out that today's hosiery market offers a wide variety of other items. If you're having trouble getting a comfortable, proper fit, you might want to try wearing thigh-high stockings - one of the specialty hosiery items. Thigh-high stockings are kept in place with an adhering band on top of the stocking. If properly fitted, quality thigh- high bands cling to the leg comfortably. The proper band accounts for most of the thigh-high hosiery cost because it's the crucial factor in holding the stocking in place. To provide greater wear, the band should be sewn securely to a welt narrow enough to be inconspicuous but strong enough to allow the stocking to be pulled on the leg. Avoid bands that are too narrow to provide adequate "gripping" surface and those that will constrict the leg. But similar to any other stretch hosiery, fit for thigh-highs is a matter of displacement - the wider the leg, the longer the stocking should be. Thigh-high hosiery often provides the solution to hosiery problems for these women: -The short-stout or tall-thin woman or anyone who is dif ficult to fit with panty hose. However, the extremely heavy or thin woman may not find a properly sized band for leg circumference. -Pregnant women who don't want to bother with foun- Vicky Huska Christened At Local Church Aug. 8 was a memorable day in the young life of Vicky Lynn Huska, who was baptized in a beautiful rite performed in St. Patrick's Catholic church.
