This was an inspection meet ing which means that an offi cial of the state came to ex amine each girl on her floor work and understanding of her office. Aunt Elaine Strum of Ar lington Heights attended and gave the McHenry Jobies a very good rating. Cider, doughnuts and fellow ship followed the meeting. Mrs. Wayne, known pro fessionally as Geradline Stern, is that artist in residence. She has an easel on wheels and can move to any location in her liv ing room - painting studio, with its two walls of glass, to cap ture the light at any time of day. This contemporary rustic home of barnwood, glass and rough sawn cedar will open for Holiday Hospitality Day, Wednesday, Oct. 6. Mr. Wavne is resident director of Wood stock center located nearby, and before the couple moved here from New York three years ago, he was a writer of documentary and dramatic scripts for televi sion. The home is set at the edge of an oak forest and faces Kish- waukee creek. The oaks have been a source of inspiration for the creative Waynes. The terrace has been fashioned of white oak rounds. A chunk of hollow oak has become a hang ing lamp over the dining table. Rocks from around the grounds have been chosen for their uni que shapes and are delicately balanced on old timbers and placed about the terrace. Vi sitors will enjoy the colorful totem poles here painted on old barn beams by Geraldine. The livingroom - studio truly lives up to its name in the Wayne home. It serves as the artist* s work area and con tains an open kitchen at one end separated by a divider-ser ving counter that also has a hollow oak lamp hanging above. It seems a perfect combinatin of practicality for today's life-, style where cooking and cam araderie can be carried on si multaneously. The hostess need never leave the room. The room contains a sculp ture shelf including some of the artist's assemblages of an cient jug handles and pestles found on the shore of the Med iterranean at Caesarea, Israel, where there have been impor tant archaeological digs. Mrs. Wayne is also a writer and has written a book of pro files of Israeli women, "Dau ghters From Afar". must be made with Mrs. Giel at once as seating is very limit ed.
