OLSEN A complete military honors service was conducted in California Tuesday of this week for Theodore G. Olsen, Major, U.S.A.F. retired, of Vacaville, Calif., who died Friday, Sept. 17, in Travis A.F.B. hospital following surgery. He was 53 years old. A memorial service was held for him Sunday, Sept. 19, at Nativity Lutheran ^church, McHenry, with Rev. Roger Olson officiating. Mrs. Theresa Schultz of McHenry donated a painting of the Last Supper to Nativity Lutheran church in memory of her brother. It hangs in the narthex of that church. A memorial fund was established in his name'by his niece, Mrs. Chuck (Kaaren) Gies at Nativity church, Wonder Lake, which he helped to organize while living in that area. The deceased was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Chicago, son of Ingeborg Thime Olsen (deceased) and Theodor Olsen. He was raised in Chicago but spent much time at McCullom Lake. Mr. Olsen graduated in 1934 from Steinmetz high school. He joined the Army in August of 1941, prior to Pearl Harbor. Later, he transferred to the Army Air corps and graduated as a pilot in 1943. Mr. Olsen served in the Pacific area, Hying photo reconnaissance on B-24's during World War II. He also flew the Berlin airlift in 1948. Survivors include his wife, Doris Springer Olsen, a former Air Force officer to whom he was married in May of 1947; four children, Mrs. Ronald (Ingrid) Buehrer, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Mesta, Deborah and Theodore, Jr.; and three grandchildren; his father, Theodor Olsen, 1603 N. Meadow lane, Lakeland Park; his stepmother, Sally Andersen Olsen; two brothers, Ole T. Olsen of McCullom Lake and Arthur I. Olsen of McHenry; two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Theresa) Schultz and Mrs. Jake (Eve) Levesque, both of McCullom Lake) also numerous nieces and nephews in this area. The California service was attended by Ole arid Art Olsen and Mrs. Levesque. SHIRLEY ANN KARLS Mrs. Shirley Ann Karls, 37, of 5713 Liberty street, Richmond, died Sept. 18 in Chicago following a lpng illness. Mrs. Karls was born June 27, 1934 in McHenry, daughter of Martin and Helen Wegener, and was educated in the local high school. She was married to William Karls Sept. 30, 1955, in McHenry and had resided in Richmond since 1956. Survivors are her husband; two children, Teresa and Randy, both at home; her mother, Helen Wegener of McHenry; one sister, Mrs. Gordon (Joan) Miller of Rich mond; Uiree brothers, James and Gerald of McHenry and Warren of Arlington Heights. Her father preceded her in death. A funeral Mass was offered at 10 o'clock Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry, with Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was at the Ehorn, Adams, Haase funeral home, Richmond. LOUIS F.ROGERS, SR. Louis F. Rogers, Sr., 79, of 4710 W. Shore drive, McHenry, died Sept. 18 in Memorial hospital, Woodstock. He was born April 17, 1892, in Chicago and was a supervisor for a transportation company before retirement. Mr. Rogers was a member of the McHenry Masonic lodge. He is survived by his wife, Fleda, nee Rockwell, whom he married Dec. 2, 1915/ two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Mar- jorie) Weyant, Palatine, Mrs. Ralph (Geraldine) Gulder, Mt. Clemens, Mich.; one son, Louis, Jr., McHenry; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Harness, Baldwin Park, Calif., Mrs. Anna Arm strong, Ober, Ind.; four brothers, Alfred and Leo, Plymouth, Ind., Jesse, Culver, Ind., and John, Tinley Park. Brown said the system would speed iden tification of suspects and^ave Illinois more than $2 million in record-keeping costs in the first five years of operation. Brown said Videofile, to be financed with federal funds authorized by the Illinois Law En forcement Commission, will directly benefit 900 police agencies with stepped-up identification and crime laboratory services. It will convert paper files to compact recordings on magnetic tape that can be viewed as television pictures or reproduced as printed copies and reduce file space to one-tenth of present requirements.
