McCullom Lake Mildred Watson 385-3585 Seek Clerk For Village It is with regret to announce, that as of the first of the year, the village clerk, Mrs. Carol Perschke, must resign her position. The duties of the clerk are most rewarding and cer tainly interesting. Meeting the people of the area is one of the highlights of this position. If any readers of this column are interested in carrying on as clerk, after the first of the year, please contact President George Luto or Mrs. Perschke as soon as possible. One in teresting aspect of this position is the prerogative to choose hours, as long as they are reasonable. Someone who is retired might find this is just what he or she has been looking fdi;. Think it over, then call, the time is short. COLD DIP ANYONE? Brrr, Brrrr, the water is getting cold, in the lake, that is. It seems there is a hearty lot living over in Lakewood. Six people, 50 years and older, are staging a contest of their own. The idea is to learn, as of Labor Day, how many days and months they will be able to go into the lake and be fairly comfortable. As of Oct. 1, they were still going strong. Anybody out there know if there ever has been any swimming after the first of October? Remember this means the swimmers must have been 49 years or over, those younger don't count. SERVICE NEWS Navy Lieutenant (junior grade) Warren L. Johnson, 5101 Fountain lane, is aboard the aircraft carrier, USS In dependence, now in the Eastern Atlantic, taking part in the NATO Strike Fleet Exercise Royal Knight. Laura Slater has a birthday Oct. 19. A happy birthday to you, Laura Slater. ABIT OF EVERYTHING The buildings on Spring road are going up pretty quick. Aren't you anxious to see how they will look upon completion? A call about B.B. guns being fired in the village. The culprit knows better. Fall is a beautiful time of the year, except for disposing of all the leaves, but even that can be fun, I guess. Mrs. Josephine Giosa and daughter traveled to Whitewater to pick up her granddaughter and to take her home for a brief vacation. The trip was a wonderland of color. The trees and bushes are just beginning to turn to their beautiful fall colors and fall wild flowers were seen. USO Mrs. Lorraine Frost, is USO campaign chairman for the village this year. Your help is needed to make this drive a success. Won't you volunteer your services? Your sons and daughters in the Armed Forces are volunteers. Please call Mrs. Eugene (Lorraine) Frose after 6 p.m. Here are some facts about the USO you never suspected or probably knew all the time, (a) runs discotheques (b) baby sits, (c) presses pants, (d) speaks 19 languages, (e) conducts the world's largest tourist business, (f) presents more live entertainment shows 1 PRICES WINES and LIQUORS Inc. n. - Sat.«Mi 9 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.- Sun. 12 noon to 8 p.m. 305 Virgin* Crystal Lafo /'I All ( avoritc Brands CIGARETTES TV* _ CARTON W !<f>/ PHILADELPHIA BOURBON •A gal. *67/ MEISTER._,a BRAU *3" 24 12 oz. bttls** KESSLER BLENDED WHISKEY !Z 69 % Gallon JIM ®i BEAM !<f>l $039 54 GALLON BULLOCH LADES Scotch -co- <s> Vi (1ALLON *777 .ON / Ml Ll.OW MASH YELLOWSTONE Kentucky Straight S"FQ7 Bourbon Whiskey J 'A (Gallon SCHENLEY'S CHAMPION e YEAR OLD Straight Bourbon Whiskey $059 th W Mattingly & Moore Straight Kentucky Whiskey $095 mi th £ 'A gal# KID SATIN Smooth Blended Whisky r £,, '3-97 Item 1097 rth£ • caiioCOLD $1 39 DUCK Fifth 1 McHenry Charcoal filtered Sour Mash IQ39 3/lQQQ Fifth U OLD STAGG 8 old t~77 Straight • < " Kentucky Whisky Qt. Let's show them McCullom Lake cares. GUNS How many adults or children have said it can't happen to me? I'm careful, I know what I'm doing. A BB can maim. Shrug your shoulders at the thought of small animals being maimed if you will, but will you shrug it off if it is a child or an adult? A complaint will be signed against those seen using this weapon I understand. So please stop now, okay? - CLOSING THOUGHT I wonder if the water is any colder in the lake this week? Smokey, the Bear, asks everyone to be careful with lighted cigarettes, cigars or matches now that so many leaves are on the ground.
