Steve Freunds Wed 60 Years Mr and Mrs. Steve Freund of 1416 N Richmond road. McHenry. will celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary Oct 24 with their five children, seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and brothers and sisters. Steve Freund and Emma Bugner were married in St. John the Baptist Catholic church. Johnsburg, Oct. 25, 1911. When the McHenry County Home Economics Extension council met recently, members planned a pot-luck luncheon to follow the morning business meeting. Miss Pat Sullivan, an applicant for the position of home economics adviser, was interviewed in the afternoon and accepted Miss Pearl Winterfeldt, District II assistant state leader for Extension, was present during the meeting and answered questions about the duties of the council members Mrs. Marilyn Myers, program chairman, asked for more active participation from the units in district and county programs If it is not possible for^ a ,member from a Homemakers unit to take a lesson, a member from another unit may be able to substitute. The Council discussed the lesson on F^land and reported the many Mavorable and en­ thusiastic comments they have heard. , Tell Day Final plans were made for Show, Share and Tell day. Mrs. Nancy Lucke and Mrs. Mildred Hammersteadt are chairman and co-chairman of the event to be held Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church on St. John's road and Route 47 in Wood­ stock. The day will include demonstrations in fondue cooking, art object painting, china painting, and flower arrangements. Plans also call for a bazaar, snack bar and farmer's market. Anyone in­ terested in one of the workshops in macrame or pine cone decorations should make a reservation before Oct. 19 by writing Cooperative Extension Service, P.O. Box 431, Wood­ stock, 111. 60098, giving address and phone number. No baby sitting service will be available. There will be a fifty- cent donation to help pay for the cost of the facilities. The public is invited to join for a day of fun and learning ex­ periences. Dancers Give Program For McHenry Club With about 150 members of the McHenry Senior Citizens club in attendance at the Oct. 11 meeting, the procedure was changed and the program was given before the meeting. It was presented by the students of the Mar-Ray dancing studio of McHenry, by some talented youngsters. When they finished, they were served refreshments. The various chairmen made their reports, George Binder reminding members that the bus trip to the Chicago Loop Oct. 20 had been cancelled. However, there are two bus trips to the loop scheduled for November and two for December. Tickets will be sold on a first come - first served basis by contacting Louise Giel at 497-3646 at once. It was unanimously decided for the club to make a generaous donation to the newly formed McHenry Rescue squad. It was also decided that the club would have a very special Christmas project. Instead of receiving gifts from Santa, the members will help fill Santa's bag^ There will be more details at the next meeting. The meeting Oct. 25 will be the annual Halloween costume party, and the program will be a special one by the kitchen band. This will be the last performance of the band for the 1971 season. PANCAKE BREAKFAST Cub Scout Pack 452 will sponsor a pancake breakfast and bake sale at Mount Hope church Oct. 30 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds will be used for a trip for the Scouts. Tickets are available through Mrs. James Boelens. Dundee Club Entertained By McHenry Band St. Agatha Court Serves Mystery Dinner A mystery dinner at 6:30p.m. will precede the regular business meeting of St. Agatha court 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters, in the Johnsburg Community club hall Tuesday, Oct. 26. Reser­ vations should be made by Oct. 24 with Mrs. Paul Pitzen or Mrs. Richard Dehn. On Friday, Oct. 20, the Henry Senior Citizens club kitchen band entertained the Dundee Senior Citizens club which was celebrating its seventh anniversary. Members had a very beautiful an­ niversary cake com­ memorating the occasion which was served to the club members and kitchen band during the social hour before the program. At 2 p.m., the leader of the band, Mrs. Dolly Mazzarella. was introduced and gave a little of the history of the band and its accomplishments. There was considerable interest in the very unique home-crafted instruments, as well as the "one of a kind" hats the ladies were wearing. The audience received a laugh from the "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" number in which the band's version of Lawrence Welk, in the person of Ray Murphy, circulated amidst the audience blowing bubbles while Dolly held junior, the automated bubble blower. The program ended with a standing ovation by the audience. Rummage Sale This Weekend In Ringwood Two Centers Benefit From Holiday Bazaar The Pioneer Center, Mc- Cullom Lake, and Child Day Care center. Wonder Lake, will benefit from a holiday bazaar, bake and white elephant sale to be held Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Y.F.W. building. Rt.'120. There is no admission to the bazaar, which opens at 11:30. The public is invited. Tickets for the luncheon and card party should be purchased in advance from Mrs. Elmer Stange. Interesting items, including antiques, have been donated for the event A rummage sale is being held today (Friday) at the Ringwood church from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The ladies of the church will be serving coffee "and" also. On Satur­ day, most items will be half price. The ladies of the church are still saving food coupons toward the purchase of silverware for the church dining room. Anyone coming to the rummage sale who has some of the proper coupons and would like to donate them to the silverware project, there will be a box on the check-out table in which to leave them. The ceremony was performed at 3 o'clock in St. Bede's Catholic church. The newlvweds are making their home at 1K4 Eagle Point road. Fox Lake. The bride, a 196# graduate of McHenry high school, is a tour counselor for Allstate Insurance Co. Her husband is an operating ngineer for the Du-Co Engineering firm. ANNA SUE COARSON ENGAGED -- Rosemary Coarson of 2912 W. Blarney Stone drive, Cary. announces the engagement of her daughter, Anna Sue, to Samuel J. Diamond of 474 Judd street. Woodstock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Diamond of 8801 Gulf road. DesPlaines, 111. Miss Coarson attended McHenry County college. Her fiance was graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law and is an assistant state's attorney in McHenry. A Jan. 15, 1972. wedding is planned. Two Halloween Events Planned By Women's Club The next meeting of the Pistaftee Highlands Women's club will be held Oct. 27 at the Community center. This 7 o'clock meeting will feature a Halloween party, with prizes- for best costumes. A dinner will be served. Every member, or person, wishing to join, is asked to donate to help pay for the food. Money will be accepted until Oct. 25 bv Kay Reilly. The Women's club will sponsor a pumpkin carving contest for community children Oct. 30 at the Community center. Bring all entries to the center at 10 a.m. for judging at 11. There will be four groups, preschool; ages 5-7; 8-10; and 11-13. Recognize Clubs During Federation Anniversary The McHenry County Federation of Women's clubs met Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Marengo Ridge Country club with the Marengo Woman's club as hostess. County Federation President Mrs. Frank Heinemann presided at the meeting, during which the fiftieth anniversary of the county federation was observed. She called upon the president of each club represented at the meeting to read a short history of her club and its activities. The oldest club in the county federation is the Marengo club and the youngest is at Wonder Lake. During the business meeting the McHenry County Presidents club was welcomed into the county federation as the most recently organized club in the county. Guests of honor were Mrs. Lambert W. Moller, treasurer of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs; Mrs. Welton Luecke, president of the Eleventh district; Mrs. Frank Dusak, Eleventh district treasurer; Mrs. Raymond W. Arnold, Eleventh district recording secretary; Mrs. Donald E. Phillips, president of the DuPage County Federation of Women's Clubs; Mrs. Donald Gerlitz, parliamentarian for the McHenry County „ federation; Mrs. Herbert Evans and Mrs. Gordon Sargent, both past presidents of the McHenry County federation. Following luncheon, the McHenry Senior Citizens kit­ chen band, under the direction of Mrs. Rocco (Dolly) Maz­ zarella, performed. A most entertaining program of music from the 'twenties, including vocal solos, duets, music by the entire band of thirty-two members and dance numbers, was presented. DINNER - BAZAAR "Holday Garden" is the gala theme chosen for the bazaar sponsored by the Immanuel Lutheran congregation of Crystal Lake Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Immanuel school gymnasium. In con­ junction with the day long bazaar is a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings which will be served at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Ticket Future Events Are Planned By McHenry Club At Monday night's meeting of the Business & Professional Women's club, held at Andre's Steak House, Richmond, a discussion was held on the annual sponsorship of two scholarships for senior students in the McHenry area. Plans are also under way for a bake sale to be held at the McHenry State bank Saturday, Nov. 6. Members voted in favor of making a donation to the McHenry Rescue squad. Monday's meeting was at­ tended by thirty-five members, four guests and two new members. chairman for the beef dinner is Mrs. Delmer Blanken.
