The window of the little antique shop is filled with lovely colors, sparkling in the sunlight. They could smash into hits in an instant if one were careless. But this fragile glassware has outlasted the men who made it. It would seem that things are more durable than people. Things -- all things -- are the products of men's minds and talents. But they have no will of their own, no feeling. No matter the obvious evidence, it is impossible that objects could outlast man -- even if you didn't believe in eternal life. Where is the answer? Perhaps you can find out in the church of your choice. Ringwood News IIrthi Area Children Collect Halloween Treats For UNICEF This coming Sunday af ternoon the children of the Ringwood area will meet at the church at 2 p.m. to go "Trick or Treating for UNICEF". They will be identified by the traditional orange and black coin boxes, having on them the symbol of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Emergency Fund) $ For 25 years this children's fund has been in existence, bringing food, medical care, clothing, and educational op- portunites to needy children in over 100 under developed countries. Young people in our com munity and nation, wishing to help needy'children to obtain these and other benefits, are devoting Halloween to Trick or Treat or Treating for UNICEF. They ask your help by con tributing when they ring your door bell and say: "Trick or Treat for UNICEF. Remember come to the church at 2 p.m. You will go trick or treat for UNICEF and then back to the church for games and supper. Moms, do you want to join the fun too? Then call Katie Christopher, 653-9195, and offer to drive for those little ones who might need a ride. ABOUT TOWN Mrs. Mabel Hawley spent a day in Chicago last week visiting her friend, Mrs. Andy Anderson. Last Sunday she spent an enjoyable day with Mrs. Eleanor Howe and Edwin Hawley. having dinner in Lake Geneva. Last week Mrs. Nellie Hepburn, Mrs. Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stutzel and Mrs. Merl Oliver had a delightful 'Sin Obscures True Identity" Church Lesson Like the Halloween mask that hides one's face, sin ob scures one's true identity. This aspect of the nature of sin will be brought out at Christian Science church services Sunday in a Bible Lesson-Sermon entitled "Everlasting Punishment." From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, this citation will be read: "The likeness of God we lose sight of through sin, which beclouds the spiritual sense of Truth; and we realize this likeness only when we subdue sin and prove man's heritage, the liberty of the sons of God." "But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life," a Bible selection states. "1 Thess. 5:21 Prove all things. 'Oude 3. That ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. "Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. FAMILY REUNION Last weekend found Walt and Doris Low, Ray, Tom and Pam Low and friend, Dan Kehoe of Elkhorn, at the Thomas reunion (Doris' relatives) at Bettendorf, Iowa. This is an annual affair for the Iowa and Illinois families, which they look forward tg each year. This way the cousins and cousins' kids get to know each other and see each other at least once, a year. There were at least seventy there on Sunday morning for a big pancake breakfast and lots of catching up on news. CHURCH NEWS The rummage sale last weekend was a success and our thanks to all who helped and donated articles to help with this success. We made over the $400 mark. It took a little longer for the clean-up crew this time as we did have a lot left. BAZAAR TIME AGAIN The bazaar and roast beef dinner will be Saturday, Nov. 13. The bazaar opens at 2 p.m. and the dinner will be served from 5p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for the dinner and may be purchased from WSCS members or call Mertie Harrison, 653-9248. SUNDAY SCHOOL Our Sunday School at tendance has not increased as we had hoped it would. There were only twenty-one there last Sunday. Come on kids let's come out and show these teachers that you appreciate their efforts in preparing a lesson and being there. UMYF The United Methodist Youth Fellowship met last Sunday evening with only eight in at tendance. There was a hayride planned but with so few there and the weather against them they had a fun evening at the church. This group helped on the clean-up group for the rummage sale and earned themselves a starter for their treasury. They will also be helping at the bazaar to in crease their till.
