LARY GAYLORD PHOTO McHenrv Girl Aids Director Of NIU Play Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" will open Northern Illinois university's 1971-72 Fine Arts Auditorium, theater series, giving area audiences their second chance this year to see a 1940's classic starring Craig Compton and directed by John Ulrich. Barbara Anne Kidd, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D.H.. Kidd of 3103 W. Rjverstream drive, McHenry, has been selected as assistant director for the production. "Streetcar" both stunned and thrilled audiences when it first was presented in 1947. It was also the first drama to win all three top Broadway prizes; Pulitzer. New York Critics' and Donaldson. '"The play will run nightly Tuesday through Saturday nights, Oct. 26-30 at 8 p.m. A matinee will be presented Sunday, Oct. 31, at 2:30 p.m. Box office hours in the Fine Arts Lobby are 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. weekdays. Richard Monson officiated at the 4:30 p.m. double ring ceremony. Special music was presented by the bride's cousin. Norman F Riebus. who sang "The Wedding Song" and "The Lord's Prayer" » The bride chose a white velvet gown fashioned with long sleeves, high neckline enhanced with yellow velvet ribbon and aurora borealis sequins and an attached chapel length train which was in­ terlaced with yellow* velvet ribbon Her shoulder length, illusion veil was attached to a white velvet bow headpiece. She carried a cascading bouquet of yellow roses and ivy with streamers of yellow velvet ribbon. Mrs. Joyce Lary of Niles. sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor She was attired in a yellow brocade sheath dress with matching coat and carried a white basket filled with yellow flowers. Keith Butler of Arlington Heights, served as best man. Ushers were James Ralph Johnson of Wonder Lake, brother of the bride, and Charles Lary of Niles. brother of the bridegroom For her daughter's wedding. Mrs Johnson wore a blue, floor length dress with a matching cymbidium orchid wrist cor­ sage The groom 's mother wore a pink dress with matching cymbidium orchid corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for 125 guests was held at the Polish National Union camp, McHenry. Honored grand­ parents at the reception were Mrs. Charles Schroeder of Clearwater, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Migdal of Mc­ Cullom Lake. Other guests in attendance were from California, Montana, Florida, Bellwood, Chicago, Elgin, Arlington Heights as well as the McHenry-Wonder Lake area. With UNICEF'S help, the death rate from malaria among children has been lowered from 3.5 million in the 1950's to less than one million last year. About 60 per cent of all preschool age children suffer from malnutrition. UNICEF assists nutrition programs in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East. The newlyweds are both 1969 graduates of McHenry Com­ munity high school.The bride has been employed at the National Food store, McHenry, while the bridegroom is em­ ployed at Jed Products, Elk Grove Village. The young people are now living in Elk Grove Village. A miscellaneous shower was held recently at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Losch, Griswold Lake, attended by Donna's grandmother, Mrs. Ida Schroeder, of Gearwater, Fla., her great aunt, Mrs. Anna Schoeles of Helena, Mont., Mrs. Kathryn Aslburg of Bellwood and a great aunt, Mrs. James Witt of Chicago. An unusual event occurred before the wedding when the bride's grandmother arrived from Florida and her great aunt arrived from Montana at O'Hare field within fifteen minutes of each other.
