Mr and Mrs Edgar Nardi of Shallimar, who are leaving this community to make their home in Connecticut on Octr 28 were honored guests at a dinner held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Varese Richard K Bowman, claim representative of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance company, MeHenry, has been awarded a diploma from Vale Technical institute at Blair- sville. Penn. Walter J Freund of MeHenry has received a pin for twenty- five years of service as a Firestone tire dealer and a check for the same amount. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gordon Bruce of W Waukegan Road were guests of honor at a surprise party given at their hoirie Sunday afternoon on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary The new and growing congregation of Faith Presbyterian church appointed its first building committee to go ahead with plans and a program that will eventually lead to the erection of their first permanent structure on their five acre site at the corner of Chapel Hill and Lincoln roads. They were Anthony Corcoran and Dr. Edward F. Wilt, Jr., who discussed the SAMAMECO program which placed two medical students at MeHenry hospital this past summer. He is a member of the board of the MeHenry County Department of Health and serves on the board for the Comprehensive Health Planning agency for MeHenry county. Dr. Wilt, a member of the MeHenry Hospital commission on medical education, is president of the MeHenry County Board of Health and also president of the MeHenry County Mental Health board SAMA-MECO (Student American Medical Association- Medical Education and Community Orientation) is an ongoing program to encourage medical students to practice medicine in Illinois following graduation Over 1,000 registrants from the hospital field in Illinois -- administrators, trustees, Mrs. Cowlin is the former Geraldine Carey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Gerald Carey of MeHenry physicians, nurses, and volunteers-attended the convention. It was held at the Arlington Park Towers hotel in Arlington Heights Oct. 21-22. The challenge to the health care delivery system that it deliver more health care to more people but at a lower cost was the focus of the two-day meeting. The Illinois Hospital association is a non-profit voluntary organization of over 300 Illinois hospitals. It represents a $1.6 billion-a-year health service system that employs over 154,000 people. The association acts as the spokesman and program coordinator for hospitals in their interactions with public groups and both voluntary and governmental health agencies. The Cherry Valley 4-H club was called to order by the president, Dale Timermann. Julie Hoag led the pledges and the minutes were read by Elain Limbaugh. Elain also gave a committee report on our window display. Bill Scfamuhl gave the committee report for our club's hayride this coining Oct. 29. We picked a committee for the "share the fun night." They are Dale Timermann, Bill Sch- muhl, Robin Schmuhl, Elain Limbaugh, Judy Calvin and Don Limbaugh. We talked about the projects and most members decided which one they wanted. Neil Wright was in charge of recreation after the meeting. Robin Schmuhl, Reporter TRAFFIC TOLL Nineteen of the 129 persons killed in traffic accidents in Illinois during the first half of October were pedestrians. Public Works Director William F Cellini has announced. Cellini said the 129 traffic fatalities recorded during the period represented a sharp 17 per cent increase over the 110 traffic deaths reported in the same time period last year and three per cent over the 125 reported in 1969. Washington street, MeHenry, was among sixty- four juniors. from Northern Illinois university, DeKalb, who spent three days at Lorado Taft field campus last week completing their elementary education block seminar requirement.
