Richmond Road McHenry, Illinois 60050 Phone: 385-1333 (Pub. Nov. 3, 5, 10, 1971) fa Is there a handy man around , your house? If so, the National • Society for the Prevention of Blindess says, he should wear i eye protection whenever he is engaged in carpentering, • metal-working or any other activity where there is the , danger of an eye accident. Accidental injury blinds thousands of people, reports the Society, and a little extra effort to protect yourself is certainly worth it. Halloween's Haunted House Take one couple who likes children -- add a community of youngsters who like the couple, and fun, and ingenious efforts in behalf of witchcraft. It all adds up to one glorious, spooky Halloween weekend which attracted hundreds of young and old. The location was the yard surrounding the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mough, at the corner of Ringwood and Barnard Mill roads. With very little effort, the Moughs engaged the assistance of some of their eight children and most of the young folks who live in the neighborhood. Under eery lights, post-teen youths donned costumes of monsters to add to the spookiness of the surroundings. On view to spectators were a haunted castle, guillotine, coffin containing Dracula and a huge spider web. PLAINDEALER PHOTOS' by Wayne Gay lord The pendulum may have been in vogue a few hundred years ago, but the gruesome killer came into being again over Halloween weekend at the Bob Mough home in Ringwood. Bats aplenty - and not in the belfry but over a casket, where this foreboding replica of Dracula rose stiffly just as he should on the night of goblins and ghosts. Halloween without a haunted house? Never! But in spite of its connotations, a number of Ringwood youngsters hid their fears long enough to walk inside and even on the roof top. Never a more opportune time to succumb to the decisive action of the guillotine than Halloween. This victim's face bears a smile as though to defy fate, even in death. Caught in the spider's web is this unhappy fellow whose efforts to escape have been futile. The two spiders making their way toward him feel there is much truth in the old adage, "It's an ill wind...." PAGE 17-PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1971
