"But maybe he will not stop at our corner," - Debby ob jected. I Service News § Army Private George M. "For they don't have the responsibility of supporting a family or closing a crucial sales contract, etc." True enough, but as Debby indicates, children do suffer from similar tensions and breakfast when they are of school age, for protein neutralizes' the acid of the stomach. And protein is found in milk, as well as egg white, bread and most of the breakfast cereals. If you have a kiddie who chronically complains of stomach ache, you may also let him chew on one of the anti- acid tablets that are sold at most chewing gum counters. "Well," Judy replied, "I'll take you to school this first day and help you find your room. /'And I'll meet your new teacher to be sure you are in the right place." Still Debby procrastinated and seemed upset. "B-b-but I'm so n-n- nervous!" Debby .finally confessed. Judy then told her all the other new children felt much as Debby did, even though they didn't show it on the surface. "That's the way everybody feels," Judy added, "when meeting a new situation. It is called stage fright." ' CHILDREN'S ULCERS The main reason I cite this case of our granddaughter is to show you why children often develop peptic ulcers. "But kiddies don't sface the tensions of adults," some Teenage Marriages Strictly Regulated By Law Romeo and Juliet might have found true- though tragic-love at a youthful age, but Illinois law provides for a more realistic and thorough ap proach to the subject before sanctioning marriages for the younger generation. According to the Illinois State Bar association, the law requires males to be at least 21 and females to be at least 18 before they can legally tie the knot. Males of 18 or more years and females of 16 or more must have the consent of a parent or guardian. The impending birth of a child can result in additional age variance. Males of 16 or more years and females of 15 or more can file a written petition requesting a court order for their marriage; however, it is up to the court to determine whether the marriage should take place. Under the law, the court's approval might be based on these findings: That the female is pregnant or has already given birth to a child along with her oath that her intended husband is the father; that the male has acknowledged that he is the father of the child; that the marriage has the approval of the parents or guardians. Aside from these facts, the court must also determine whether the parties are en tering into the marriage in good faith and intend to live together as husband and wife - and are not marrying soley for the purpose of legitimatizing the child. An underage resident of Illinois who enters into marriage in this state or elsewhere, has a marriage which could be voided at a later date. In such a marriage the minor can annul the marriage only upon reaching the age of consent. The marriage can also be ratified upon attaining the age of consent. fears. And these may lead to peptic ulcer, usually called "stomach ache" when kiddies complain of it. At the famous Jackson Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin, one of our noted medical researchers, Dr. Margaret Prouty, found over 200 cases of peptic ulcers in the stomach or duodenum of young children! To prevent such a medical ailment, try to reassure your kiddies and relive as much of their mental strain as possible when they face a social dilemma. Remind them, as Judy did Debby, that everybody suffers from stage fright when tackling a new and socially important event. This stage fright is not limited solely to the stage, but afflicts students who also perform for their school in track, basketball, football or glee club and debate teams. One of our greatest pro football stars, after 4 years of college and several yeafs^asji^- pro, always grew so tense just before a game that he had to vomit!
