A special tribal gathering was called for the purpose of presenting these girls with the gifts of the degree and for all members to per­ sonally wish them well. The impressive ceremony was quietly performed and followed by a social hour in the basement of the Masonic temple. Green St. McHenry Phone 385-6750 Court Joyce Kilmer Holiday Party Dec. 16 The next meeting of Court Joyce Kilmer, No. 573, Catholic Daughters of America, will be held Thursday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m., in the K.C. Hall, 1304 N. Park street. There will be a brief business meeting followed by the annual Christmas party with games, many prizes, and refreshments. The chairmen for the evening are Mrs. Marie Thelen and Mrs. Laverne Lamz. Their committee consists of Mrs. Marie Vales, Julia Justen, Eleanore Freund and Mildred Stoeffel. At the last meeting, the members voted that instead of a dollar grab bag, donations would be made to the Newman club foundation, a most worthy cause. On Wednesday, Dec. 1, Elizabeth Thompson, chairman of Veterans' Affairs, Ann Rodenkirch, Bertilla Freund, Frances Widhelm and Cecelia Oakford traveled to Downey Veteran's hospital and en­ tertained the boys at a pre- Christmas party. Anyone in­ terested in these monthly trips should contact Mrs. Thompson. Everybody will be most welcome to join the group and especially so if she is a driver. Father Kulak, spiritual director of the court, the regent and the officers wish every member a most holy Christmas and pray that the New Year will bring many blessings. Infant Twins Pi A1Ph« To Are Christened The infant twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ballstaedt of 4223 Rigby road, Crystal Lake, born Oct. 18, were christened Michael David and Fredrick Alfred recently in a baptismal service solemnized in St. Thomas the Apostle church in that city. Mrs. Ballstaedt is the former Kitty Albright of McHenry. Sponsors for Michael David were Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Wolf of McHenry, and for Fredrick Alfred they were Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Leahy of Crystal Lake. A buffet dinner was served after the service in the Ballstaedt home. Among guests were the twins' brother, Danny, 7, his sister, Angel, 4, the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Albright, the maternal great- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaefer, also Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gausden, Mrs. Adeline Gausden, Richard and Barbara Albright, all of McHenry, and the officiating pastor, Father Douglas. Christmas Party December 18 For Girl Foresters St. Clara Court, No. 659, Junior Girl Foresters, is planning a Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Mary hall, Montini Middle school. Each family is asked to donate one wrapped gift for Wingate Children's home. Needed are rubber, squeaky toys, musical, stuffed animals and rattles. McHenry Man Takes Bride St. Anthony's Catholic church, Rockford, was the setting for a pretty wedding Saturday, Nov. 27, when Miss Judy Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Peterson of 3308 Latham street, Rockford, exchanged nuptial vows with Mr. Richard Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Meyers of 1610 N. Court street, McHenry. Attending the bride were Mary Ellen Lamb, Barbara Anderson and Helen LaCourus of Rockford and Mrs. Terri Meyers of McHenry. Mike Sullivan of Wonder Lake served as best man and groomsmen were Harold J. Stilling, Dennis Meyers and Gerald Leisten, all of McHenry. Following a reception at the Lithuanian club in Rockford for 300 guests, the couple left on a two-week trip to Florida and New Orleans. They will reside at Concord Manor, McHenry. The bride is a 1968 graduate of West campus high school, McHenry. Her husband graduated from Marian Cen­ tral high school the same year and is employed by Althoff's as a plumber. WSCS INSTALLATION The Women's Society of Christian Service, First United Methodist church, is having a pot-luck breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16. The in­ stallation of new officers will take place at this time. All members are urged to attend. MR. AND MRS. ROl Miss Eijavec, Robert Martin Wed Saturday Miss Linda Erjavec was a pretty bride as she walked down the aisle to meet her bridegroom, Mr. Robert W. Martin, at the altar of St. Patrick's Catholic church, Saturday, Dec. 4. Rev. Edmund Petit officiated at the 3 o'clock afternoon Mass in a church decorated with blue and white floral bouquets. Linda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Erjavec of 4221 W. Crestwood avenue, McHenry, and Robert is the son of Thomas E. Martin of Champaign and Mrs. Rena Martin. The bride chose a full length A-line gown of raypeau, fashion* d with an empire waistline, bell sleeves and a detachable train enhanced with Venice lace inserts. The bodice and sleeves were also trimmed with Venice lace inserts and edging. Her bouffant illusion veil was attached to a head­ piece of white lace and seed pearls. Janet Miller of McHenry acted as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Mary Taylor of Ladd, Mrs. Cathy Pope of South Bend, Ind., and Miss Charl Groom of Madison, Wis. Lisa Erjavec attended her sister as junior bridesmaid. RT W. They wore profile headpieces of sapphire blue with pearl trimming. Greg Risberg of Chicago, served as best man. Groom­ smen were Greg Carter of Waukegan, Frank Powers, III, of Harvey and Allan Cicmanec of Chicago. Phillip Rasmussen of Crystal Lake served as junior groomsman. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Erjavec chose a pink brocade dress and coat en­ semble with matching ac­ cessories. Following the ceremony, a reception for 130 guests was held at the VFW hall. The bride graduated from Marian Central Catholic high school, Woodstock, in 1967, and attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Rockford, graduating in 1970. She is employed as a registered nurse. The groom is a 1965 graduate of Decatur high school. In 1970, he graduated from Roosevelt university, Chicago, with a B.A. degree in Accounting. He is employed as a production manager at Abbott Laboratories. After a wedding trip to New Orleans, the young couple will reside at Waukegan. BAKE SALE A bake sale sponsored by the McHenry Grams club for charity will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at the McHenry State bank between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The loom for weaving cloth, the crude cart, the potter's wheel, are classed as being man's earliest inventions.
