Children's Home Youngsters Take Trip To Museum The McHenry County college Veterans' organization treated children from the Woodstock Children's home to a day at the Museum of Science and In dustry in Chicago recently. Members of the MCC Veteran's organization, assisted by personnel from the Wood stock Children's home and two students from MCC, took thirty- one young people, ranging in ages from 5 to 18, to the Museum by bus. On the return trip to Wood stock, they were treated to foot- long hot dogs, fries, cokes, and ice cream. Funds to pay for the excursion were raised through a recent party sponsored by the MCC Vets. Members of MCC's Veterans' organization who acted as escorts were James McKinnon, Lake-In-The-Hills, chairman of the project; Gary Johnson, Cary, president; Tom Majercik, Wonder Lake; Bill Wozniak, Burton's Bridge; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Trendler, Johnsburg; Don Norton, McHenry; and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Behling, Wheeling. Two students from the college also volunteered, Laura Nussear, Crystal Lake; and Diane Cummings, Cary. Staff members from the Woodstock Children's home who went on the trip are Kent . L e a t h e r m a n , P e t e r Madhosingh and Judy Brashear. Start New "Y" Teen Program The YMCA Program com mittee, chaired by Walt Jollie, announces something new. Youth and Government is a Region I YMCA program giving a practical lesson in democracy to high school 10-12 graders throughout Illinois and thirty-eight other states. The Lake Region YMCA has contacted all high schools in its service area to secure in terested students. Presently there are seven students from Crystal Lake and Woodstock preparing legislative bills which they hope will be ac cepted for presentation to the Model Youth Legislature to be held at the Springfield Capitol building in April. Springfield will be the climax of much intensive research on bills, pre-training meetings on parliamentary and legislative procedure, bill discussion, getting nominations as pages, and participating in the elec tion process.
